qt tank setup

Ok so since I am putting more into my new tank than I paid for my car I have decided to go with an all out qt tank as some insurance(and since almost quiting the hobby having to deal with MEN in a monti dominated tank), the qt tank will be a 50 long from glass cages, with the 20H sump I am using on my current 20. My questions are what are some good meds to keep on hand, so far on my list are, tmpcc, revive, corl rx(haven't used this product yet but would like to try it),potassium permanganate and interceptor(any tips on getting a perscription? my pup is young and I don't want to medicate him)any others I should keep on hand? for tool I was thinking , forcepts, mag. glass, microscope, and If I can scrounge up the cash an ogles mesoscope(there fun to play around with too)what other tools? Also for lighting I already have a 150w metal halide, but I was also going to add a 4x24w sun blaze fixture since there relatively cheap. I know this isn't sps related but what pest am I going to encounter with trans shipped or wholesale lps?(acans and favites mostly) any other tips for me?

Sounds like you have a good plan there - dont forget about calcium and ALK additions for the tank, especially if you will QT for 4 or so weeks - see if you cant find 2 used dosing pumps, or a cheep CA reactor for the same purpose.
I'd pick up a cheep Corallife SS for a skimmer.
Also, dont forget about good water movement, Get 2 or more maximods for cheep flow, or go all out and get a used tunze setup (some of the old ones are relatively affordable - 7095 and 2 x 6100 + magnets for $450 or so)

I have heard of people using a waterpik with an iodine solution good for removing nudi and FW eggs - but also disinfects at the same time.

Just ask a friend with a dog for a few interceptor pills, or be honest and ask the vet.

Good luck!

as for the skimmer I currently have a mini-g, and I have one tunze 6080(that I cut out half the guards) and I plan to get one or 2 of the high seas power heads.

I have just created myself a QT tank last night. And after doing it I would like to suggest a smaller size tank for your coral QT. (I use a separate QT for my fish). I used a 10 gallon tank, a nano Tunze, heater and have a HOB skimmer on it. Have a 36" PC light hanging from top. Still missing is the ATO for keeping salinity stable. I started my QT with a 25 gallon tank and finding it too big and I did not want to have a tank setup year round. So took some liverock out of my sump and dropped it into the 10 gallon, the nano tunze was just about the perfect flow for the 10 gallon (actually pointing away from the corals and it keeps a good broad circulation in the tank). With the return flow from my Remora C skimmer, it definitely gave enough flow. The PC light did not produce too much heat and I was able to keep it under 82F without a cooling fan. (hanging 3-4 inches above water and I am happy with the light level having the frags sitting on a frag stand.) Now that being a 10 gallon tank, I could just do a 50% water change from my display tank every 2-3 days and it is very easy to manage. That has completely taken away the need of dosing etc. Right now I'm manual topping off on a daily basis but once I find a good deal on a ATO, I would have a complete QT that I could setup and take down in minutes. Not to mention the small footprint that it takes.

I chose that tank size because I want to be able to handle multiple boxes of coral at one time.
