Attn: SEAJAY

Believe it or not, Sams Club is now selling that most awesomest of Clam Chowder's from "Legal Seafoods"... You know, the stuff that we ate so much of at the bar in Atlanta.

It's in the refrigerated soup section, and I just stocked up in a huge way!!!

OMG... You're kidding...

Kym's mom is a "Sam's Club" person. I'll get her to stock up...

Doesn't look like I'm gonna get the chance to "stock up."

Apparently, Kym's clam chowder is supposed to be "top notch stuff," so when I told her to get her mother to "stock up," she kinda looked at me and said, "Why not just make it yourself?" Sounds like it's a dog pile that I'm about to step in... So I just smiled and said, "Oh, I don't know how to make it, honey."

She looked at me as if to say, "It's no big deal." Frankly, I have no complaints with Kym's cooking... If she makes clam chowder like she makes everything else, then it'll definitely give Legal Seafood's chowder a run for it's money.

...But I think that if I were to "stock up" at this point, it'd upset her.

Damn.

Conversely, I can't wait to try hers...

So Kym makes an awesome Clam Chowder that is so good that it gives Legal Seafoods a run for their money, but you've been together for 5 years and just found this out..?

Oh, I forgot to tell you...

The other day I was working on Eagle Eye and Eagle Eye 2, a couple of clients of mine that, interestingly, have a show on the Discovery Channel, too. Can't remember the name of the show... But these boats are longliners - swordfish boats. They fish from the Flemish Cap (of "Perfect Storm" fame) all the way to Peurto Rico.

...Anyway, they come in here regularly so that I can maintain their boats for them. The other day it was wickedly cold and I'd been underwater for about six hours at that point, when I got out to warm up and get something to eat. Planning on having someone make a run for fast food, the captain of Eagle Eye yelled out, "Don't do that."

The man produced a caught-that-morning yellowfin tuna (very rare for these waters), filleted it on the deck and chopped one of the fillets into quarters.

He then took one of the quarters and threw it onto a hamburger bun and said, "Here. Try this."

Other than sushi, I'd never eaten raw fish. The idea kinda turned my stomach. I smiled and took a bite while he sat there and watched (somewhat forcing me to try it)...

OMG... Dude, that was incredible... Probably the best thing I've ever eaten... And I don't generally eat seafood.

The slab of meat was probably in the 1.5-2 lb range and bright pink... And freakin' delicious. I've never had anything quite like that before. Tasted a little like buttery pork, but sorta "melty."

He smiled and said, "In about an hour, the omega-3's will hit you and you'll feel remarkably energized for the rest of the day." He was right.

Who knew that this gnarled, old sea captain was a nutritionist!

Good stuff, I tell ya.

Yeah, well... When she cooks, she generally avoids seafood, 'cause I'm not normally a fan. I grew up on it, but usually can't stand it. Go figure that one out.

...So I suppose it probably surprised her to hear me tell her that I wanted clam chowder - and that this yellowfin tuna on a roll was the best thing I'd ever eaten.

The captain warned me not to try the same with bluefin or any other fish. "Only yellowfin is good raw," he said. I believe him.
