question about customizing
Hi there all i have a question about customizing. I saw pictures a while back not on this site of some tanks that had the the bottom of the tank drilled with with the bulkhead and drains going through the floor to the refugium. Now I do not know if these were glass tanks or acrylic. but, in either case wouldn't that compromise the integrity of the tanks floor? or would the floor of a glass tank shatter if it were to be drilled???? I thought it was a really neat idea because with all the plumbing going through the floor of the tank the photographer was able to show 360 degree views of the tank. any thoughts on this or advise?........ was thinking of trying it if it were possible.
thanks Matt |

Many glass tank can be drilled with no problem. But you need to make sure the glass is not tempered.

There is also a custom tank builder out in TX that utilizes PVC for the bottom of glass tanks.

You'll have to call the manufacture, most pre-builts I've seen are but some larger custom tanks are not but not one of the things you want to find the hard way.
