Next I would like to thank everyone who helped this past week (or more) with my most recent "issues" I've been having!
For starters...the buttons that were taking over my tank!

Before:

and after is above

Then there was the Tailspot Blenny who decided to eat my corals and spit them out! GrrrrR! Here is the new little guy! He's doing great, and I actually love his personality compared to my last one!

He is soooo darn cute!

THEN...lol...the case of my Coral Beauty and HLLE!! I only started using Fish Solutions two days ago, so I will see what happens. I will keep ya updated. But here she is:

Its from a few days ago, not a great pic...but

And today:

Like I said, not the greatest shots! She's a hard little bugger to get to stay still!! lol

So again Thank you to everyone who has helped me so far with these issues!!!
I'm sure I will have more to come...who doesn't?

Also..don't be shy to tell me what ya think! Even if its bad!
Just try to be constructive

Here is what I'm feeding my tenants

Omega One Marine Flakes w/ Garlic Guard
Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef Flakes
Ocean Nutrition Formula One Pellets
and Danichi Sinking Algae Pellets w/Cyclopeeze

I switch through these. All my fish seem to LOVE the omega one marine flakes and the OC pellets. My starry blenny loves the danichi pellets. My coral beauty loves the prime reef.

I do Omega flakes every morning. Then in evening I will do one of the others plus one of my frozen selections:
Formula One or Mysis or OvaNuva Prawn Eggs (fish go crazy for these)
I also do Nori strip every few days! and as I wrote earlier, I am dosing a capful of Fish Solutions daily.

Here is a link for Fish Solutions if anyone is interested in what it is

I like the tank a lot! I have been trying to decide whether I wanted to put a building or a sunken ship of some sort in my tank. I had decided not to but seeing your tank has got me thinking about it again.

Are those just the plastic buildings that you can buy at fish stores? Also, is the skull the same type of material or did you actual carve that out of rock? It looks awesome!

I got the castles in the fish section from PetSmart or PetCo, I don't remember which one, and the skull came from my local LFS.
I'm really happy that they have grown so much coraline and that so many other things have chosen to live on them like feather dusters, tube worms, barnacles, sponges, even a coral cup has found his home on my skull. They have become live rock, its great

Red Chili Cactus

I'm having an issue with coraline algae growing on it. Is this normal for this coral? Is there anyway to stop it? When I try to remove it, he will not open that night. Any suggestions? Here are some pics

Also..why are these tube corals bleaching out on me?? I've had them for months and they were doing Great! Another I've had for over 2 years. Could the Fish Solution be doing this? They started to suck in their tissue the same day I did the first dose.

Can I add...?

I would also like to know if I could add a pair of sexy shrimp in my frogspawn? Or maybe a porcelin crab? Are my other tenants safe? Should I wait for my frogspawn to get bigger? Also...my frogspawn gets a visitor every once and awhile.

Cool tank, you've done a good job putting something together a kid or an adult can enjoy. How do you feel that Red Sea Skimmer is treating you?

Thanks for the compliment!!
I HATE the Red Sea skimmer!!!! It does pull gunk out, but I have to clean the whole unit every 3 days in order for that to happen. On top of that, it doesn't even skim the top of the water! I wish I had known more about skimmers before I bought it. I only recently (after 2yrs) found out what a HOB skimmer should really be doing lol. So...I am in the process of getting ready to purchase a HOB Eshopps I'm so excited and can't wait to get it!!

Very nice, been wanting more pictures of Neptune city.

Curious what kind of carbon you're running? There had been talks a long time ago about cheap carbon or not getting carbon rinsed enough to cause HLLE. Hope your angel heels up.

You chili coral is non-photosynthetic so I'd probably try and put it somewhere that very little light gets to for a while and should hopefully cut down on the coraline growth and help the coral recuperate. I've also hear of hanging those kinds of corals upside down in a cave helps them out. But I have no first hand knowledge about them really.

Could you get a better picture of the claws on that crab? Hard to say but he looks happy.

As for the tube corals it could easily be the medication you're putting in. I don't know much about what you are using but I do know most anything I put in my tank or any kind of instant change and my corals get all ticked off with me.

Thanks Jason
I have been using Marineland carbon. I buy it in bulk. I change it out every 2 weeks. Before I put in tank I rinse it well, then let it sit in a bucket of SW for like a 1/2 hr. Then swish it in there, then rinse again, then put in tank.

As for my cactus..I've had him since the beginning, so 2.5 yrs. Never had this problem before. He's always been in that spot. But I will take your advice and put him in shade more...hopefully that will help. I attempted this morning to pull some more of the coraline off of him, and I ended up ripping some of his tissue off. Lesson learned I'm wondering if maybe getting an urchin might help?

Tube Coral & Fish Solutions: Here's the thing I don't get. The fish solutions is a vitamin supplement, not a medicine...its suppose to be great for fish and corals. Maybe its because its something new? I'm not sure. Hopefully they will both recover. Here is a link for the fish solutions:
http://www.ecosystemaquarium.com/pro...-solution.html

He's a funny looking hermit right?? I will try to get a better shot...he's still really small. They are rounded and blunt, but have a black tip...very confusing lol

Thanks again for looking over everything!! I very much appreciate!!

BTW..did you see my post of my starry getting beat up by a bristle worm?? My poor baby looks like he had a fight with a porcupine
He's doing ok...I'm hoping he recovers!

You may want to look into getting another carbon. Also, if you use up the BlackDiamond make sure you rinse the heck out of it. I've used it before and I know it takes a lot to rinse out all the fines. Not saying it's the cause of the HLLE but there have been talk about it being caused by carbon.

Check out this thread in the chemistry forum.
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1231262

Have you posted your issue with the chili coral in the Non-photosynthetic coral section yet? I'd be curious with what they say.

Not sure what those additive can do but seems the tube coral isn't happy with it but might come right back either while your dosing as it acclimates to it or after you're done dosing. You may want to check out melafix and pimafix by API as well. I had good results with that for my flame angel that had HLLE.

Missed the post on the blenny. That really sucks. Hope he heals up quickly.

Great build tank---well documented
My first impression is that is squeaky clean demonstrating excellent maintenance

Question about the algae on the chili coral===get in there with a turkey blaster and really clean the rock and coral off so that it can't harbour nitrates and phosphates.

always with supplements measure your calcium pH, and alkalinity after dosing
That is usually what the corals react to rather then something in the additive

Thanks so much Jason and Capn(Scott is it?) for the feedback, its very much appreciated! I took my cactus and tried to turkey baste him, but its stuck on there real good, I then took a soft bristle toothbrush and lightly "petted" him. Still no luck. He has a few spots of HA starting to grow so I pulled that off. I just got done putting him inside the castle on the right. I hope he likes his new temp home I am going to attempt to build him a cave where he was so I can have a better view of him.

I don't have any tests due to my LFS being only 3 mins away, but I think its time to invest in some huh? Otherwise I may have to take a LFS trip every other day when I dose the fish solutions lol That wouldn't be fun. Plus, I'll probably go broke that way!!

I'll def look into getting a better carbon. I need to buy some this week actually, so it works out in my favor. Thanks for the chem link, I'm gonna go take a look at it right now!!

Just noticed you started a tank thread.. I love your tank, that castle is very unique! Really well done - it shows that all those crazy LFS tank ornaments can actually look good if done right. Good to see you drew the line and there's no 'Diver Dan' in there though! I really like your fish list. It must be great fun watching all those little guys swim in and out of all the little crevices.

So who names all your inhabitants???
