10g Nano- Pistol Shrimp/Goby question
Hey guys, I am near the end of the cycle phase of setting up my 10g nano that will be going to college with me come fall, and I was considering getting a Goby/Pistol pair. What sort of Goby/Pistol Shrimp would be at home in a 10g tank?
And all of the rockwork is sitting on the bottom of the tank, so no landslides when the pistol goes digging! Thanks in advance, guys! |

If you don't have experience with a shrimp/goby pair I suggest you buy them already paired up, ( Or sometimes it's two gobies with the shrimp).
In a ten gallon tank pretty much any shrimp/goby combination will work. If you're planning on other fish be careful because you may never see the shrimp/goby with aggressive tankmates. You need a lot of rubble and shell fragments for the shrimp to use to construct it's caves. I put two 16 ounce cups of shell fragments in my 5.5 tank before adding any sand on top of it. And any small frags are fair game for the shrimp to use too.

No other fish in the tank, it's going to be pistol/goby only, I think, and no corals as of yet. There's not a light on the tank, so I'm going to need some kind of light before trying anything, and then perhaps only mushrooms.
I have about a 2" sandbed, all aragonite sand, and a few bits of rubble, and some smaller LR fragments. Not a whole lot. Will it be able to burrow in aragonite, or am I going to add some more/different sand? |
