Hi Roger, Thanks for your reply, I'm finally getting around to looking at the wavebox. I pulled the motor/base out, reset the propellor in the motor and put it all back together. I did as you sugested and looked to see where the propellor is with respect to the outlet and it is not even close to being centered, the edge of the blade is outside the tube. I tried to adjust but it is were it is - any suggestions? It seems like the motor is too low or tipped forward.
Thanks! Erik |

I take it the issue is a thud or click noise? Please send it in, we will replace the motor or housing as needed to solve the problem. This is not common but since the Nano Wavebox is entirely hand made by modding a 6055 and 9002 skimmer housing there is definite human error possible.
If you PM me your name, address and email I can email a return label.

Hey Roger,
Just wanted to say thanks! I got the Nano back and put it in the tank and it works great. Big waves and not ticking noise. YAY Erik |

Hi Roger, You still monitoring this board? My wavebox has decided to stop working
i thought maybe it needed to be cleaned so i took it apart and it dod not look dirty at all. I cleaned just in case put it back together and nothing - well not nothing - when i plug the power it it does a quick spin then stops. The control show the normal pump on and flashing lights but no pump movement. I tried spinning the prop and nothing either. it will not spin since the magnetic force is holding it in place. Any ideas? Thanks! Erik |

Does it spin once again if you give the prop a half turn after it stops?

no, but i know what you mean, sometimes you can start them moving them. Was having the issue with my little Tunze pumps but cleaning usually fixes that. The odd think is that it will spin a just a tad when i plug the power into it. Is there anyway to bypass the controller incase that is the issue? Can i plug it into my tank circulator pump control? Should it default to running with out the control plugged in?

I can't offer any advice on plugging it into your particular tank controller if I don't know what type it is. Roger is the man when it comes to the details. I had a dud motor block a while back that caused a heap of arguments with the local distributors after it failed in a similar way, but with only half the motor block displaying the symptoms you discribe. It ended with a replacement motor block.

Have you tried removing the prop and magnet (drive unit) to be sure it is not cemented in by calcium build up. Soaking alone won't penetrate the tight space between the magnet and shaft, you want to remove the drive unit and soak the motor and drive unit as separate pieces.
You could see if it works with no controller and while a 7091 or 7095 won't be able to produce a wave, you could also see if it can respond to another controller with one of these (to rule out a pump issue).

Thanks for the info - hopefully Roger has some ideas. I have all tunze stuff so might be able to plug the motor into the 6105 controller. Actually now that i think about it I don't think i can. Something about how the Apex controls the speed of the 6105. I suspect it is the motor block
I could turn the voltage up and see what happens, it's set at 12V. I have the wavebox multi controller 7096. And some other stuff in the attic LOL.

Hey Roger,
Does is run with no controller plugged into power connector like the 6105? Yes, I cleaned it all - it moves freely except for the magnetic force. I'm using 6091 to control the wave box. I have a 7096 as well that i'm not using. And a 7092. I was going to hook the wavebox to the apex but ended up not doing it. |

Yes, with no controller it will run continuously and this would be a good basic test, if it then works it is more likely the controller, keep in mind that it will produce a ton of bubbles unless you fully submerge it for this test or run it in a bucket. If it works with no controller, you could use any of the controllers you mention just to confirm it is the 6091, with the 7092 or 7096 you should be able to produce a wave, the 7092 is the current controller included with a 6206.

So it does not run with just the power in except for the half a turn just when plug it in. So it look like the poles are not reversing. The must be some sort of solid state component in the motor housing that flips the poles. Ugh. I guess the motor is bad. I seem to having a string of fish tank devices all having ills after a year and a half. I guess the honeymoon is over. So how do I get this fixed or do have to buy a new one?

Its a bit more complicated than that, there are two coils and a Hall sensor and it essentially works like modern electronic ignition, the sensor picks up the rotating magnetic field and times the firing of the coils (like spark plugs). How old is it? The warranty is 2 years, if you send it in with the receipt we can get it replaced under warranty if it is less than 2 years old. If it is more than 2 years old and we cannot fix it, you can get just a motor and we will discount it.

Hi Roger, Thanks! It is about a year and a half old. I will dig up the recept. I probably sent it in when it got repaired before. Do you need me to send the whole thing or just the motor. That is cool the way it works. I probably have the address from last time - will it be the same? I can't find it
I did find that Tunze sent me a return label at some point but can't access that anymore. Thanks Erik |

We only provide return labels for issues within the first 30 days of purchase. It would be best to get back the complete nano wavebox, simply because this product is largely hand made, as a result, sometimes a new motor won't line up correctly with the inner housing, all that is done by hand cutting and gluing a 6055 into the body. Just include a note with return address and phone number and a receipt if available, without a receipt we would work from the manufacture date.
