hybridizing purple death and nuclear green paly's
so far I have a single polyp that is half green and half purple
will this stay this way? go back to normal over time? or will the rim go green and the rest purple/vise versa? |

i'm curious myself. I hate to tell you to check out another forum but look over at uberfrags. there are lot of people trying this over there too. Some have done this with mushrooms of different colors and what tends to happen is you have one crazy looking mushroom then the babies that spring up are only one color depending on what side they came from. havent seen anything about the paly's though.

I have a bunch of others growing out waiting to be hybridized if things turn out. like hotpink paly, candy apple red, everlasting gobstopper, campfires, tubs blue, bam bam etc just need confirmation on what will ultimately happen and what are the best mixes that are 100% the same type zoo/paly with the only exception being color
crossing finger's but I'm sure nothing will happen I'll know more in a few week's |

thanks,
the hybrid is only around 2 weeks old I hope it turns into a nuclear death paly solid in one color with the opposite colored skirt ![]() pic from the net would really be nice if mixing everlasting gobstopper and candy apple red would result in a 4 plus colored morph Last edited by CLINTOS; 08/15/2010 at 07:54 PM. |

It could be, hard to tell with the pic they could be slightly faded but blue is an unusual faded color I'm going to frag the single polyp today onto it's own plug so I don't get the offspring mixed up with the other's |

Is it possible to put two different Paly's close together and sooner or later have a Paly with characteristics of both Paly's??

I started with 2 different color polyps but similar in all other aspects
then let them grow into each other from there I took a razor blade and sliced and diced them leaving small tiny square pieces which in time grew into it's own morph try to slice them into each other |

would like to get started on other hybrid's this october since so far I found out that the color morph stays and has a small % potential to having some % of it's offspring stay as a hybrid it's now worth experimenting |

The next hybrid:
will be my candy apple reds and everlasting gobstopper's. They are just starting to almost touch each other. only difference I can see is the tentacle length, hopefully they will come up with a crazy looking morph when/if they join. and more in the process: solid orange and solid green solid orange and solid blue solid green and solid blue

Great job on this. Some of the colours you have mixed are very unique and super nice.
I'm in Windsor as well. Let me know if you ever frag and sell...I'm working on setting up a 90 and would love some unique corals. Joe |

So when a hybrid is formed are the copies that it produces from itself also hybrids or does it produce the parent stock from which it was formed and not the hybrid form?
