Cool Programming Ideas

I wanna hear programming ideas that are out of the box thinking, that you feel is unique or are proud of.

Here is a simple one i thought was clever, I set Feed D to turn on my atinics for 3 hours, this way when i have a party at night i can turn on the lights and show off the tank, and then when im drunk later i dont forget to turn them off and leave them on all night

Let me hear yours

I did the same thing on my tank wit the addition that I Made a 2 switches for it and conected it to the controller. now when I press the button I can independently turn actinics or whites.

I also built a switch than when you press it, It sets a 30 min timer that allows my SW reservoir to be filled with RO water. That way the reservoir does not start filling with fresh water when I am doing a water change.

Mine may be kinda weak, but I made virtual outlets for various modes on my Vortech. So I can start a wave, Reef Crest (to varying degrees), etc.

That, and I created an "ALL OFF" outlet to shut off everything I need in an emergency or water change (yet leave the lights on)

I have an auto feeder and a virtual outlet "feed start" the feed start turns on at 7 pm for 1 min then the main pump and vortices are set to off if feed start is on with a 2 min defer then my actual feed outlet is set to come on 30 sec after feed start is on that way the food is droped in the tank after the pumps are off and it gives the fish 3 min to eat in calm water with no food in the overflow.

I also have an Rodi holding tank that my top off pulls from. It has 2 floats a high and low I have a button under the stand that when I press it it turns on a solenoid to start filling the tank and shuts off when it's full. I overflowed the tank almost every time before setting that up haha. It also emails me when the tank is low.

im interested in the equipment side of your auto feeder, what are you using to introduce the food into the system, how much backlog can you keep before you have to reload?

i had something simular for my ATO as well except it was controlling a pump that refilled the ato bucket (it was hard to get to) from a refill bucket, but now i have a auto shut off valve built in to the bucket and a RODI line run right into the bucket.
