Anyone with a 5/5.5 gallon Nano show them here!
I'm just looking to see who else has a 5 or 5.5 gallon Nano reef tank. Have seen some neat setups here and there and would like to see what everybody has.
So if you have a 5 or 5.5 gal reef then post your FTS pics here! Also post the current age of your tank! Thanks! |

Sweet Kafuda! Tons of rock in there, gives it a nice natural cavern type look to it. Are the holes in the back wall for waterflow?
What are your plans for this? |

Thanks. Yours is cool too.
I have a build under the zoa forum that has been fun. A few months ago I sat down and made a list of things I have wanted to try over the years and this pretty much is my first trial of those ideas. Plans include: One frag and one frag only. Yes that is correct. This is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time and finally got off my rear and started doing it. I am going to put a single zoa frag in and I will cover all of the rock work with frags from the mother colony. I figure I should be "finished" in 2012 or 2013 if everything goes well. There are 10 holes or actually blenny burrows throughout the walls. Two under the left box (ATO), 3 on the very back wall, 3 on the right side and 2 where the light is brightest. My PH sits inside the right side, points down and my water flow actually comes through the rock floor along the edges and where the two rocks are on the right side at the front. The floor is "free floating" and I can remove it if I want so I could always add sand. The reason why I did the 5.5 vs. a 2.5 is I wanted a single blenny within the rock work. Even though I have a ton of rock work in it there is little water displacement. |

Cool Idea, I really like the Blenny tunnels. What single zoa frag are you going to go with?

paranoid, I really like your set up! How big of a sump do you have with your setup?

There really isnt a sump. Just the area inside of that overflow. There are 2 compartments. The first compartment is the fuge area where the water goes directly into, and there is macro algae and a small container of carbon. Then there is an opening between the 2 compartments at the bottom where there is a filter sponge. Then the second compartment houses the heater and pump.

My 5.5g Reef Island Pico, now approaching 3 years.
You can read my detailed writeup about the tank if you are interested at that other small reef forum website, where it is featured as the July Reef Profile tank of the month.

Agu- Nice looking tank. Crazy about the 5 yr aspect. Do you happen to have any pictures of what it looks like now? Corals are all looking big and happy.
davskee- Looks good, keep it up. Nice elegance. Sandeep- I remember seeing your tank in the July tank of the month thread and on other threads. Always really liked the look of yours! Has a nice clean look throughout the whole tank even with the age. Really like your multiple micro elegances and those red blastos! I got some blasto merletti for mine a while back. Think they might be RPE blasto based on comparison to another similar one I saw with a little different coloring that was labeled PPE. |

Having a hard time finding a 14 inch fixture for my tank. Currently I am using a clip on 9 watt PC lamp that came with my refuge. Think it is in need of better lighting. I did go by Aquatraders today and tried my luck there and they had a 24 watt PC 50/50 14 inch light for 28 dollars. But knowing how their products are I am affraid to buy it last thing I need is to start a fire at work. Anyone know of any good lights that are only 14 inch? Was thinking about doing a DIY LED system but I am thinking it will be too much light for this small tank.

Someone local is breaking their system down and selling things off cheap. She is selling me a frag of purple hornets. I am not buying them for their glory and their "associated history" rather right place and right time if you will. I had a list of a few others, some old school and I am sure some I would have to donate plasma to purchase. On down the road I think it will be hilarious if when asked how much is that tank "worth" I say something like $5000 and see the look on their face. |

I want to keep mostly musrooms, zoas, and a few hardy sps.
As for livestock I don't want any fish, only interesting inverts. I added a feather duster this weekend

Can I ask what everyone is using to light their 5/5.5g tanks? My son and I are are in the process of putting together an AIO 5.5g. I have a 2x18W fixture lying around that I used to use on my 2.5g tank.

Davskee- Tank is looking real good, looks like you moved quite a few things since the last time you posted a picture.
Parish- always looking good. I plan to move some of the LPS out of my tank in the next few days, and place all the zoas I have in my sand on the rockwork in the places where the candy canes are. |
