Unhappy red hair algae & slime algae

I've started to get a lot of red hair algae on my pluming after I started dosing with vodka so I stopped & now I'm getting a red slime algae to
nitrates are .2 , alk , cal, mag are all right on
I also do weekly 10% water changes
how can I get this to stop

In my experience the red hair algae is a curse from hell. I found that Mexican Turbos (the big ones) really like it though.

this stuff is tough to pull off, it's in my water return lines & some rock, I've used tweasers to pull it off, but it's getting thick

I found that red stuff, if it's the turf stuff, to be hell. Was toxic to critters that ate it. Sea hares died. Lots of snails died. I blame the turf. It eventually disappeared for me with lights out, anti PO4, etc. And -- you might try an urchin. A longspine will eat the stuff til it's gone and survive. That was the trick Ron Shimek gave me when all else failed.

Too bad the striped zebra turbos are a thing of the past. Those were so much better than Mex turbos....
