I got this skimmer a few months ago.
The pump has indeed improved a lot compared to the old model. Thumps up! But I do have one problem. The pump doesn't draw 3000 l/t with air. Actually not even close! It only draws half, 1500 l/t. What is wrong? |

Hi,
clean the pump. To test the maximum of air, disassamble the water outlet completly. What is the position of the wateroutlet (plate inside)? regards mike |

WOW that sucks.....This Skimmer is an EPIC FAIL!!! I had been inquiring about it since 2010....just ridiculous that it takes this long to correct the issues with this skimmer and has scared me away from ever purchasing an ATI product again. |

Update from ATi-Germany
Hi All!
Just wanted to re-assure everybody that ATI-Germany is aware of the cleaning issue and that this issue has been addressed with the release a newly designed venturi. This new venturi is available for current PowerCone owners abroad through their local dealers and will be standard on all units sold in North America. As for a release date here in North America, we are in regualr contact with the folks in Germany and we are doing everything we can to get the new, improved version of the PowerCone skimmer here as soon as possible. Unfortunately the folks in Germany have run into a few delays, but rest assered they are working hard to get it here as soon as possible. As soon as we know more we will certainly let everybody now. Take Care! Your friends at ATI-North America |

I wouldn't hold your breath.
I was all gung ho about this skimmer a long time ago. I have bought and sold 4-5 skimmers in that time and taken down most of my tanks since then....... |

Apparantly, these units are coming out within the next month or so. I have been waiting for my Vertex Alpha Cone 200 for over 6 months now and have had enough!!
My 180G is ready for a decent skimmer. I have been running on a Vetex IN-180 that was just suppose to be temporary for a few months....So, I have been looking for a reasonable replacement and this unit looks like it may just be it. Here's a few questions for the ATI distributors: 1) Has the start-up issues been resolved? On the last model, pushing 3000lph out of a Sicce pump caused the unit to fail on start-up many times. 2) Has the excessive cleaning of the pump been resolved? Cleaning it every 2 weeks was not remotely acceptable... 3) Any firm date as to when they are to arrive? I have heard they are coming very soon but nobody has thrown an arrival date out there yet. |

Two years after announcement? I really wanted this skimmer when it was introduced but the wait has left me being very uncertain about it, especially after two years. I will probably wait longer just to make sure they actually got the bugs worked out. It is a fantastic idea and design.

I have been using the 250i since September and I really like the skimmer. It is quiet and does indeed pull a lot of air. I thought the digital air meter may be kind of gimmicky, but it is easy for me to take a look and know when the intake is getting clogged. Not sure if I would want a skimmer without one. i am happy I waited two years for the skimmer.
