thanks for the reply.
If the new pump solves the problem of the skimmer PC ATI, ATI team should deliver the new pump for free. The skimmer is designed badly, unfortunately. Why do I have to pay to correct your mistake? The skimmer works very well when the pump runs fine |

I am not taking any sides here.
But he said the pump had some problems (only when the power goes out). This problem can be fixed with a new impeller that you get FREE. The people who buy a new skimmer today get a controllable pump, which also costs about 90 euros more. So i do not see why you should get this for free, when a impeller is what can solve your problem. Just because something better comes out it does not mean everybody can get it for free. However, the impeller should be easily sent to you in the mail, and fixed fast. Every product has the right to fix problems during warranty, this is what oliver offered. |

The propeller has already been replaced and the skimmer is still working badly. Today ATI skimmer with new electronic pump costs the same price of my skimmer. Why do I have to pay 79 € ??? I think it's ridiculous...... |

@Oliver P. - I have a question about old/new pump. You wrote, that pump has up to 3000 [l/h] airdraw, but what about water? Is the W/A ratio 1:1,5 (metioned earlier) means when pump suck 3000 [l/h] air, it suck 2000 [l/h] water? What is the water efficiency?
Oh, one more thing - will be PowerCone 250 withdrawn instead of Powercone250i or both on the market? Month ago i paid at my local dealer for the older version, but skimmer is still not available. Last edited by premiero; 02/17/2011 at 04:55 AM. |

Worth the Wait - ATI PowerCone Skimmer
Hello again everyone. Just wanted to chime in with a quick note on the pumps…
As some may know, an early version of the PowerCone has already been released in Europe and a small percentage of folks did experience some minor pump issues. ATI has of course worked diligently to resolve these issues and we are confident that the new, improved I-Series PowerCone Skimmer will not have these same issues. With that said, the US version will be fully tested in the US at the ReefGeek facilities and we will not release any units until we are confident that it is not only an excellent performer, but that it is easy to use and most importantly...reliable. On behalf of ATI and reefgeek, we would like to thank all those who have participated in the PowerCone Thread. As large as the thread is now, please remember that for immediate assistance, you can always contact us via email [email protected] or TOLL FREE 866.295.9230 We thank everyone for their patience regarding the release of the ATI PowerCone Skimmer and we will post an update as soon as we have a release date. I believe the New ATI PowerCone I-series skimmers will be well WORTH the WAIT. |

I have a 130 display and 30 gal sump with a medium to heavy load. Which one of these skimmers is for me? I currently have an ati bm200 and I never have consistent skimmate. Some weeks i have great skimmate, others i have none, and other weeks it overflows for some reason. I want one of these asap, but don't know if 160 or 200 is the way to go. Any advice? I may wait to see how these things actually perform, but they do appear to be better then anything out there at any price, like their powermodules. When will this skimmer be finally be avaliable, and what is the optimum depth of each?

Also do you have any idea as to what the ideal water level will be?

Anyone worried that another ati skimmer is having pump issues? I've been waiting for this skimmer to get released, but now I'm starting to worry that the company will still be offering pumps with issues. My reason for upgrading is that I'm sick of the BM250 pump issues. Maybe ATI isn't the going to be able to offer quality long lasting pumps.

Well, of course it would help if ATI says more about the pump.
Whether its a complete new design or from like a good pump like laguna etc. Only time will tell though, but of course, the price is not like a Bubble King, and even then a pump breaks down. |

Hello,
our new controllable Skimmerpumps represents a complete new generation of Pump technolgy. The controller makes sure that the pump will always operate in normal parameters. If something is not ok (for example a blocked airintake) the pump will stop and make a new softstart. The Monitoring function of the controller helps to have a safer operation. You dont have this with standart pumps. Also, the pumps will be very silent. We use active balanced Rotors to avoid vibrations. Every Rotor (Magnet+Gridwheel-impeller) is checked before we place it into the pump. Only in this way it is possible to make sure that one pump is as silent as the other pump. We do not sell modified standart pumps anymore. This is history. Controllable pumps are much more flexible, easier to use, safer in operation and more confortable. Some more facts: unmatched Efficiency of 100 l/h airintake pro 1 Watt: = 2000 l/h @ 20 Watt = 2500 l/h @ 25 Watt = 3000 l/h @ 30 Watt Our new Gridwheel generates the smallest Microbubbles like a Meshwheel but last as long as a normal needlewheel. It combines the advantages of both worlds. Our Meshwheels were good. But it was not the final solution. Our new Gridwheel outperforms a normal Needlewheel easily. This is one reason, why the efficiency of our pumps is that high. More infos later. best regards, Oliver |

Hi Oliver
Our new Gridwheel generates the smallest Microbubbles like a Meshwheel but last as long as a normal needlewheel The Meshwheel looks very fine for it to last as long as a pinwheel? Do you have water flow specs as well? I believe water flow is as important as air flow! Thank You kindly for your input, looking forward in seeing the new skimmers. Kevin |

Oliver, could you confirm the release date of march 15th?
I'd also like to know the pricing of the 200i model. I found one retailer where I could pre-order it for 429euros. Thats 70euro more than the old 200 model. Can you confirm this as well? I'm not judging, simply just want to know. Thanks, Robin |

ok, it sounds very good.
Now i just need to compare to a BK supermarines, and hope that the sound level is very similiar. Furthermore, is it a brushless DC pump? Like RD3 Speedy? Because this would also be interesting for the return pump if i buy the skimmer. |

Hello, unfortunately, many other Italians have big problems.
ATI does not respond. Everyone has asked me to write here to help. Why sell in USA ATI skimmer with new pump now?? In Italy the skimmer cone Power came with the single pump and it does not work In Europe there are still too many problems. All do not want to buy ATI skimmer. Oliver, please help your Italian friends. We have written a list of our names, we are too many 1) The skimmer drips from the glass 2) THE PUMP DOES NOT WORK ... even with new propeller 3) The columns of the skimmer break please help |

I was intrigued by this skimmer at first and have been monitoring this thread for awhile. I am definitely moving on and going with a proven skimmer - seems like way too many problems being experienced on this and it isn't even here yet.
