Gorgasia preclara(splendid garden eel)-- http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Gorgasia-preclara.html
Heteroconger hassi (spotted garden eel)-- http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Heteroconger-hassi.html They have specific requirements, tank should be built around their needs. Not the best eels to start with or attempt without a fair amount of research. Quote:

That was one of my favourite things to see in the Kona diving I did. Just 100's of garden eels, though jebus help me if I could have got a shot of one of them, they are huge in the wild, and dont let you get close before they hide.
This is the only shot of any guy I got, and he isnt a garden eel.

Hey everyone I'm back. Unfortunately my SFE made it through my egg crate a little after so I decided to give it my go with a larger eel that couldn't make it through. Here is my zebra moray. I've wanted one for such a long time and finally got one.

Am I seeing double, or is that two greens in the above pics? I keep a mature G.funebris (see page 8 of this thread) and I will be interested in the outcome when those two grow to maturity. Please keep us all updated.

If those two greens are 20+ years old, then I am an alien!! Unless there size and complexion has been stunted for some reason. Even when living alone, they look like they have been in a war.

Out of snowflake, Chain or Zebra which one would be less agressive towards fish and as an adult do not go mean? Some say SFE go postal as adults but a buddy has one that is calm as can be.
Thanks |

I'd go with a Zebra if you have the room.

If you can spend a bit of money, try a Golden Dwarf Moray. They max out at 12" and look pretty cool IMO.
He's not always out that much. It was a combination of it was around 11:30 pm and it was just after feeding; he's always out more for both so I tried this and it worked.

These are only cell phone pictures, but anyway..they're both pretty small juveniles. They're the only eels I have left, pretty common species, but I enjoy them, even though I'm not trying to "collect" eels due to a hobby reduction.

It's funny how much our definition of 'common' are different. I have only seen one Fimby for sale and I don't even know what the second one is.
