plumbing question of skimmer
I am looking at buying a 24" cube aquarium and am not sure the best setup for a refugium and protein skimmer- I see some premade refugiums like the proflex but they seem pretty tight space wise to fit a skimmer like an octopus. Is it possible to set the skimmer outside of the sump/refugium or best to sump mount it? Any advice appreciated - Thx,

If you have room a 20gal long makes a great sump. You just silicone the baffels in where you want them and presto. Just make sure the silicone is aquarium safe.

Its best to mount the skimmer inside the sump. Most skimmers function better this way, and are created to function as such. Also by running in sump you give yourself a safety in case for some reason your skimmer overflows, so your not dumping skimmate on your floors
