I need a bracket, or maybe just a good idea

I need to hang this 2LF reactor from the plywood pictured:

Ideally, I would use a bracket shaped kind of like this:

I couldn't find one at the hardware store. Has anyone come across such a thing, and able to suggest where I might find one?

Do you have access to a torch? Thin steel is more than substantial to told the weight of a reactor and easy to bend after heating to cherry red. Coat it in Plasticdip to prevent rust.

Or at least thats what I would do

Lightbulb Bracket Idea

Hi iwishtofish ; What about a small shelf to sit the reactor on and then two-thirds of the way up the reactor attach a fire extinguisher type bracket that has a quick release so it is tightly held to the plywood when locked into position. If you cannot find the right size brcket how about velcro staps screwed into position. Good Luck! I think that will be more stable and easier to clean and replace media.

Thanks for responding, hvacman250 - I do own a cheap blowtorch. Is that all I would need? I think the fact that I don't have (or really have access to) a good vise wouldn't help in this case. I'm also not sure my drill bits are suitable for metal, and not just wood. But I'll keep that option on the list!

Both good ideas, but I think I like the shelf and velcro one best! I'm not sure I have room for the shelf, though, the way I already configured the plywood:

I guess I assumed that the hanging bracket would be readily available.

createdlight, I'm afraid that the strap would protrude too far. As usual, my MS Paint creation above (bracket) was not-to-scale. If I use a bracket, it only needs to protrude enough to hang the reactor by its mounting lip:

Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Din rail.... Has flat surface in the middle with holes to put screws through, then has a lip on top and bottom... Similar things are available at most big hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowes.

Shawn, I think that might be my easiest solution! I'll look next time I'm at Lowes. Thanks!

Just notch a piece of wood and screw it to the plywood and have the reactor hang on it just like it would off the back of a tank.

That's another really good idea, if I could manage to do it neatly!

a small piece of aluminum "C" channel screwed to the ply wood facing up would work too...

A notched piece of wood just requires a friend or coworker with a router or router table. But you get the idea, there are plenty of options.
