Which type of pipe

Has anyone ever used Flexible PVC or PEX pipe. I am going to use a MAG drive for a return to my tank and was thinking of using PEX or flex pvc to go back into the DT. However instead of re inventing the wheel I wanted to get some feed back from other reefers. Any advice is welcome. Thanx in advance.

Flex PVC is great! www.savko.com is where I got mine. they had the most reasonable shipping prices.

I used flex pvc in the past. Saves alot of time and effort in awkward or tight spaces. Can also help in reduced waterflow issues by making sweeping turns. Have also ordered from Savko as listed by chimmike which they are good to deal with.

I'm gonna use flex pvc on my return pump, I used hard pvc and it made my pump to noisy and the pipes vibrated to much and made a humming noise.

Tagging along. What type fittings does the flex use? Not trying to hy-jack the thread but I am interested in the flex

I used regular sch 40 fittings but if memory serves I used a special pvc cement. It was a number of years back but I remember the cement was blue in color. Not sure if regular pvc cement is recommended or not. Savko could easily answer that question.

When I researched this I came up with the same as tom - can use regular pvc fitting, just need special cement. I also recall seeing that you could use regular cement, if primer is used on the fitting only, never the flex, allowed to fully dry before use, then use the regular cement. I don't have a source to point to though. I forgot where I saw it already.

Flex pvc is great. All you need to get for cement is the All weather blue from Hd or Lowes. And you use standard sch 40 fittings. The one thing with flex is like someone said above is that you get less flow loss due to nice sweeping bends, but you lose a little flow due to the pipe having a smaller id. But it is worth the loss. I have a run on my Koi pond about 75 feet, if i had to do that with rigid pipe it would of been a pain. Good luck
