So i've been thinking about getting this fixture for my new SPS tank and i was wondering if anyone had any information on them. Is the company reliable, customer service issues ? They seem very simmilar to the vertex leds but with better lams. any info would be great thanks.

I think they've switched to a new US distributor?

With some digging you can find some dealers that are taking pre-orders. They were supposed to "Ship" 2/1/2010 but it's hard to tell if it happened or not. I am also looking into one of these, here is information:

Metis LED lights are avalaible in three diffrent sizes:
- 2x100W – 33.5″/850mm – suitable for aquariums up to four feet/120cm
- 3x100W – 49″/1250mm – suitable for aquariums up to five feet/160cm
- 4x100W – 65″/16500mm – suitable for aquariums up to 6 feet/ 200-210cm

The official release date of the Metis LED is February 1, 2011, but these are available to pre-order at a special introductory prices found below.
Metis CRP 2x100W – $1493 / 936,00 euro
Metis CRP 3x100W – $2079 / 1360,00 euro
Metis CRP 4x100W – $2751 / 1846,00 euro

Lamps with a series of Metis CRP (Saltwater/Freshwater) are our most economical models - with the best price/power ratio.
Their compact and modern design and high-quality components used in their construction - make that they are currently one of the best products for the marine aquarium - a serving to illuminate demanding many corals - like soft, LPS and SPS species.
These lamps are available in three different sizes - 2x100W, 3x100W, 4x100W.
Each lamp is equipped with an internal computer which communicates wirelessly with the PC computer (through a built-in BT module).
Each element - as an internal computer (the computer responsible for controlling light and electronics), digital LED driver, 1-10V module can be quickly disconnected - and listed as needed (updated flash, change the panels stronger / newer, etc)

Saltwater version is build with 4 types of CREE LED chips: Neutral White XP-G 5W, Cool White XP-G 5W, Royal Blue XP-E 3W, Blue XP-E 3W.
(questions answered by distributor)
Can these handle SPS?
Quote:
yes they are more than perfect to handle SPS, we dont do comparisons we like to think the lamp can speak for itself
I thought Pacific Sun announced on the website that this fixture would be useing the CREE-XM series of LED's. A missed change ?!
Quote:
actual version is working on XPG leds - but there is a second version (Metis XM) with XM leds - with 150W panels( working on 9W Cree LEDs) but its will be on higher price - about 40% higher
why would you need brighter LEDs that consume more power, when we already dial down our AI systems to not bleach out our reefs? I guess bleached is the new black?
Quote:
As these have no optics you get no hot spot areas and thus better coverage for a smaller footprint lamp and far greater colour blend with wgites and blues.

Optics create a lot of hot spot areas and colour seperation issues.

Here is Pacific suns reply

This lamp assume about total 300W power - and is suitable for aquariums up to 50" long. So - its not a strong lamp which can bleach your corals - instead of many 3W leds(for example - 30pcs 3W each) - this lamp can use 9-10pcs - and will offer much more light without the risk of bleaching.
