Yellow nudi or seaslug? Reef Safe? HELP!

Found this guy under a coral today. What is it? Is it reef safe? I don't want to get rid of it unless it is not reef safe. It is really cute.

Not sure which one it is, but i know a number of nudi's can wipe tanks out when they die releasing a toxin in the water.

I would ditch it.

If it helps any, it has little antennae like the lettuce sea slugs. I would prefer not to ditch it until I know what it is. I have had no problems in the nano where it has been.

I agree he's pretty cool. If you've had him for a while, you've either gotten lucky or it's a reefsafe species that hasn't been seen much if at all in the trade. I would take the same approach in that if he hasn't done anything yet, there's no reason to think he will. There's only a few species you'll see for sale, because of all the potential issues they cause. Did you ID it in the sea slug forum? Any info on it?

Not sure if I can post this or not. There is an expert that identified him for me on this website. =)

I am really excited that I get to keep him. He is so cute. LOL. I need to figure out what kind of algae to feed him. I am going to ask Leslie. It is so tiny.

my guess is he'll probably eat hair algae if you have any or film algae that grows in your tank. that is what mine is eating and possibly diatoms as well. good luck with him! It's so fun finding crazy things in your tank.

That is a really cool find. Hitchhikers can obviously be a mixed bag. I would just take a small section of nori and rubber band it to a small piece of rubble. You might try both green and red.

One other thought. If you use a magnet to clean your glass, try using a razor blade and scoop up some of the shavings with a turkey baster.

Those three should give you the most readily available algae sources. Their range of food preferences can be pretty narrow, so a little trial and error while you have him confined should make it easier.
