Shrimp in frag tank
My frag setup is 48x30, and is packed full. I get the occasional aptaisia, maybe 1 or 2 small ones a week. I have no problem shooting them with lemon juice or whatever to get rid of them, but thought it might be easier just to have a peppermint shrimp in there, as I believe they will munch on them. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this??

My peppermint took care of my aptasia over night. Don't feed your tank for a few days after you get him. Mine likes to go out of his way to step on all my corals all day. He also killed a few snails I got a fee days ago. They seem to be quite aggressive for a shrimp.

Peppermint shrimp are hit and miss IMO. I have never had luck with them killing aiptasia.

I have heard some stories about peppermint eating some corals. Anyone know anything about it?

I made a thread about my new aquired peppermint shrimp totally destroying polyp by polyp one of my SPS.
Response in that was some had the same issues, some had never had a peppermint eat their SPS. I say it is all about luck of the draw, and once the aptasia is gone, make sure you are feeding the shrimp just in case. |

sometimes when a peppermint shrimp is done eating aptasia, he will turn to eating corals. they may also steal food from your coral. so i would not risk it with a pep, berghia nudis on the other hand, i can wholeheartedly recommend if you can find them
