Help with Mac Set-up

Hello -

Just installing my Apex today. Use a mac with Airport Extreme. No network cable in my living room so I'm plugging the Apex base into a Cisco Powerline Network adapter. I know this connection is working as I can plug my laptop into the connection and access the internet. The laptop is my work computer so I do not want to use this to access the Apex.

Here is my question.
I have tried the 192.68.1.50 in both Safari and Firefox without any luck. I see this address on the Apex display.

I have also used Parallels to move into a windows environment and tried the http//apex in Internet Explorer without any luck.

I have turned the DHCP on the Apex to off.

Appreciate the help!

Steve

Mac networks don't use 192.168... They use 10.10.... So by having DHCP turned OFF, you're preventing the Apex from obtaining the proper IP address.

I don't know anything about Parallels so someone else would have to chime in on that. Try changing DHCP to ON and reboot the controller. Also, the http://apex won't work with a MAC. Let it get an address, then go in and see if it grabbed a 10.10... address. If so, use that address directly instead of the hostname.

The networking chapter in the User Guide will give you much more information on this. Might be worth a read.

This, or narrow your DHCP range on your Airport Extreme and manually assign your Apex an IP that is outside that range. I typically only hand out 15 IP's as I don't have more networked devices than that anyway. So, as aqua has said either setup your Apex to grab a DHCP address or find and adjust your DHCP range as neccesary and assign your Apex an IP that is still in the same subnet of 10.10.0.x(think it's zero, may be one) but outside of the DHCP range.
