Stock list looks nice. Is the water in the 72 from a previous setup or is it all new water?
Pictures would be great too!
Welcome to the hobby!

72g was new water with 15g from my nano. Bought the tank used. lady was moving and had to let it go. She said tank was not running for a week but all was in a garbage can with pump and heater. Kind of got thrown into this setup. All live stock is from my 15g.

2x150mh are a good setup for that tank.Time to have them on is based on what your going to have in the tank.i would think with what you have in there now 6-8 hours a day would be fine.
Maybe add some pic's of the sump setup?

Concerned that my temp is at 83.. I have an AquaEuro Chiller EU-1/4HP not hooked up yet. Is that something that I can keep inside the house? Or will that give out too much heat?

Tank has only been running for two weeks. Should I be running the skimmer?

yes hook up the skimmer and be prepared to empty the collection cup as it should produce a lot of gunk on the first day.

as for the chiller my tank is about a constant 82-83 and everything is doing great. wouldn't worry about it to much

sand bed depth depends on if you want a deep sand bed or not

I would go with 250w halides if you intend to keep the acro. Those 72 bows are tall. That temp is getting on the high side but I wouldn't worry too much as long as it's consistant. 1-2 degree swings are normal, any more than that might be stressful. If you have a chiller yes set it up then gradually bring your temp down over a few days. I would go with 79-80. You should also be testing for phosphate and calcium. As for the sump, I see it as a place to keep things like skimmers and heaters and no livestock. As for circulation I hate powerheads, look into a closed loop system.

Today’s readings
PH 8.3
Ammonia 0.25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
KH 214
Phosphate 0.5
Calcium above 520

Portion of the rock that the light hits are turning brown. I have the light on for 6hrs. Anyone have any experience with a chiller being keep inside of their house next to there tank? Does the room get too hot? Thinking of running my return pump outside of the sump, so I can put some LR in the section. Pros and Cons?
