The Reason I Joined This Site

I was scanning google for "D.I.Y. Plywood Builds" when I came across this http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1853466 I could not grasp why he would not take the advice given. I found myself laughing to tears from all the feedback and waiting for the final fill\burst vid with high anticipation. Though he admitted defeat and gave-up in his follow-up thread http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...9#post18828049 I was disapointed I never saw it fill then burst. Luckily no children hurt!!!!

But WAIT he has yet another hilarious thread of 10+ pages disregarding all well given advice, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1869535, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1869535. What is the end result of days and days of hard work, 1,000's upon 1000's $'s, 3 tanks, and countless fish/coral. The guy loses his finger in a lawnmower and all tank are broken down after a few months. I dont know whats worse his thread or the fact i put "freshwater" in my name.

His thread should be unlocked and stickied across the site with direct links on the homepage. I counted 15+ people who joined this site just because of this thread!!!!!!!!!!

I love the fact he uses a quite one 1200 to run his sump/refuguim and disputed it was perfect for pages. According to the Specs it has 296 gph flow at 0' head and a max head of 6'. His 250 gal tank's filter had less then 50 gph by the time it was pump'd back into.

I wouldnt use that pump for my 100 gal freshwater built in wet\dry let alone a reef set-up!!!!!!!!!

No it never got finished, he gave up when he bought a used 250.

Then he stuck his hand in a lawnmower and severed a finger. Not the brightest guy.

I admit reading this stuff is kinda amusing, but it is also a lil sad reveling in the pile ons...
I've trolled here and other sites longer than some of the teenagers that frequent them have been alive...

The cliquish behaviors, bullying and pile on's are a study in unplugged social behaviors...anyone/everyone can get brave behind 1000 miles and the saftey of a keyboard as thier primary weapon

So yeah, the OP was not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but IMHO those threads exposed even more cyperpunks

....edited to add (yes pot calling kettle black)

Actually RC staff try to keep that from happening. Did you report the thread?

naw I was speaking in generalities...

...as you know this place like every other forum has a few doozies...some are out right classics...

...but seems here on RC the Mods will shut those threads down FAST!!! heck almost too fast (like a few recent ones in the Feedback section), heck I almost wanted to see those develop a lil bit hah ha

Where did you see that he lost a finger? It's one thing to laugh at someone who blatantly ignores the status quo, but losing a finger isn't that funny to me.
It was an amusing read though, just killed a half-hour waiting for brownies to bake.

I joined this site to educate myself on how not to set up and run a reef tank.
The original OP of said threads have helped me accomplish my goal.

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1877462

He posted pics of it claiming it was from a moving lawn mower blade. But he was caught in many lies during the thread which brings me not to believe the lawn mower story. I was really looking at the wound and I dont think a lawn mower blade was to blame, it was to clean of a cut. To me a circular saw would be the best guess for a cut like that, Ive witnessed them many times. IMO he cut it off building his tank and didnt want to admit.

yeah well me and 15 other people join'd to laugh at this guy. I guess thats the difference between fresh and salt water guys.

I honestly cant get over him defending quite one 1200 as a main pump for a 250 reef, it shouldnt of even had flow w\ that head height.

Yeah, lets talk about brownies and beer. Never tried that combination but hot dogs and beer simply rocks.
