BH-90 HOB Skimmer

I remember seeing a few weeks back about this being available in december. Any idea when exactly the price will be announced and it will released? Looking at getting a new HOB skimmer and the bh-90 looks very promising.

I am interested in this too. I have a hunch that the price will land somewhere between the BH-2000 and the Sicce pump HOBs. What is the diameter of the cylinder?

We don't have a firm date at this time but expect the BH-90 not to release until early next year.

Very cool. Are we able to order directly from CoralVue or do we have to go through a distributor? I don't see it listed on anyone's webpage yet.

Thanks

You will have to go through a distributor. Most online sellers know about the skimmer but have not placed it on their site yet. We will be releasing the info on the product to our stores within the next couple of days.

That is less that I thought. Is this skimmer a bit better than the BH-1000?

I like the design better on the Bh90 since it is more like the traditional cylinder so it should prove to be a better skimmer than the BH1000

If you could, give us a review when you get it up and running. I know that it is rated for a 100 gallon tank but will this skimmer be enough for a moderately stocked 55 gallon tank?

i have had this skimmer for 3 weeks now and as of now i am not that happy. I can't get the skimmate to enter into the cup. The skimmer neck is coated in waste but i can't get it in the collection cup. i have tried the "open" position and also the "closed" position and every position in-between but still no results. They say the breakin period 3-4 weeks. Feb 29 will be 4 weeks. I liked the cylinder to conical transfer idea but so far i am not satisfied with the waste production.

Please allow the skimmer to fully break in. I tell everyone that they should not attempt to adjust the skimmer for collection until after the 4th week mark. After that period you make small changes to the output valve and leave it for 3-4 hours or if possible longer. This will allow the skimmer to adjust to the new setting.

You can begin to close the valve so that the point where water and small microbubbles begin to separate at the water minimal line on the skimmer.

Does anyone have it in stock anywhere? I just bought one and it is backordered. It seems popular enough; hopefully, someone will give a detailed review soon.

Also, the street price seems to have risen to $170 or greater across the board.
