heres a comparison of the AI vs hyperion coloring... hyperion colors all 100% and overall brightness of 80%

the AI is set a little bluer then normal but still gives you a comparison

the ai creates such a fake neon sign look and they pac sun is really a natural look. I can see that already in my tank and I don't have any live stock in there yet.

I got my t5's up and running and here are some pictures.....

LEDS @ 50%

T5 only....

I took some quick par readings and the numbers are off the chart amazing....

water surface 3" below the light 1950
20" below the light 650
Sandbed 30" below the light 300

These numbers were in the center of the tank and I will do more testing over the weekend by taking readings for the front/back and four corners.

Great job Pacific Sun!!!!! You have an amazing product and by far the BEST lamp available for our hobby!!!!!

Steve...that tank is H U G E and I love it! I'm even more impressed with a 300 PAR reading at 30 inches deep.

Is there any chance you took any reading with the LED's only at 100% I'm real curious to see what the lamp can do less the T5's.

Rodney.....I did take some readings earlier in the week and if I remember correctly I was getting readings in the 80-100 range but I will do led only testing this weekend when I take samples from the entire tank. Important thing to keep in mind that par readings on LED's are not as accurate as par readings on MH and T5's and there is another meter (can't remember what its called) used with LEDs....its very expensive. I have heard that white leds measure fine but its the other colors that dont measure properly and can be off as much a 30%.

If anyone has a special request for a par reading just let me know.

Steve I would really like to see PAR numbers at 100% all eight channels and LED's only at 6, 18 and 24 inches deep. I would think the Cree XM-L Cool White and XM-L Neutral White LED's will help to produce some strong numbers up to and beyond 24" deep.

@Larry nice tank! How high are your lights above the water line?

2 things.....

1.) Is anyone using a mac with parallels to access their lights?

2.) I will have par readings posted later on today. its been a busy work week and haven't had time to concentrate on doing them.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. As soon as you said I need let parallels control the blue tooth I knew that was my problem. When I was plugging the blue tooth in I was letting the mac control it so when I went into parallels I couldnt identify the comm #. All set now.

I was reading the other thread and it seems like the OSX software is close to being finished. Just ordered my first Mac (next I'll be driving a mini van...LOL) yesterday and it's good to know I'll have options. Changing the PAR table to a graph will also be a nice upgrade with the new Mac software. Hopefully its released soon.

Par readings

Readings were taken with the lamp 3" above water line and depth readings are distance below the water line. So, 12" reading is a total of 15" from the lamp. All reading were done in the middle of my tank which is 72x36x28 and I only did corner readings from the sand bed.

100% LEDS ONLY

12" 275
18" 225
24" 120 (big drop between 18" and 24" and that could be because of my aquascape so will be different in everyones tank.
SB approximately 26" (pumps were off) 110

Corner readings
FR 85
RR 90
FC 105
RC 105
FL 95
RL 90

Important thing to remember with par readings for LEDS and that the blues don't measure properly and can be off as much as 30%.
