Derasa Clam mantle
When I first added my derasa my cleaner shrimp was constantly harassing it. So I moved it to the other side of the tank and now the clam is doing fine. But an inch of the clam's mantle on the side is pinched in (where the cleaner was picking at it). Will it grow back?

It should but just keep an eye on it cleaner shrimp usually find the clam and start pickiing on it again. Also watch the spot for any signes of infection. I had to get rid of my cleaner shrimp becuase it kept harassing my maxima clam. Sometimes you have to make the call on what you would rather have in your tank. Just becuase something is listed as reef safe does not mean that it will be compatiable with everything.

Thanks Abugjo! Yes he does like to pick on my clam when lights are out. Will try to catch him tonight. My question is do you think the mantle will grow back? It's about an 8 inch clam and 1 inch of it looks like it's either retracted or bitten off.

are you sure the cleaner is actually eating the mantle? or is it feasting on the edges of something someone else made. a 1" bitten off piece would be too much for that 1 cleaner shr to consume. what other inverts and verts do you have. picture would help. how long have u had the derasa? a way to catch cl shr is to rub some food into your hand and let the shrimp eat the particles. not a lot of food, just enough to attract the sh. do it again and get it closer to the surface. coax it up until you or someone else can catch it w a net. u can put some actual food in the net and hope the sh goes in after it, but that never worked for me
