Question 9410 going crazy

I need some help,

my 9410 goes crazy, water coming out of everywhere, I tried adjusting the blue air nozle, but it is still the same.

skimmer is in depth of 8 inches.

It is on a newly setup tank, just saltwater, and dead rock/sand there is nothing to skim, it is brand new just put it in sump to test.

Is there any other adjustments need to be made, of what is causing this?

here is a vid I just uploaded to show what is happening

Can you check that the airline and venturi are not clogged anywhere as well as the impeller pins have no debris in them?

checked, nothing clogged, and nothing in the impeller,

its brand new too. pretty weird, is it possible that too much water depth is causing this?

Yes, the water is deeper than I would recommend, I would lower it 1", and new tanks can cause weird reactions in skimmers, typically new saltwater will have some colloids and be very highly oxygenated and these both can cause the skimmer to freak out.

Keep in mind that the less air you add the more water, the pump pretty much does 450 gph and you set the ratio of what is air and what is water and air full open this is nearly 50/50.

The only defect I can imagine would be a 50Hz needle wheel which will have 3 circular rows of pins (2.5, third row is cut in half) a US 60Hz needle wheel should have 2 rows only.

I think if you lower the water level 1" and open the air flow a bit the operation will become normal after a few days of break in.

I have lowered water level by 1". Currently sitting in 7 inches.

My tank is 25 days old, I see there is a slime coat on the skimmer, but when I turn it on its still splashing fast and everywhere, bubbles going everwhere and no skimming.

DO I have to keep it on literally for couple days while it is going crazy like that? Most I have kept it on is 10 minutes.

I have tried it in fresh water and it seems to be running quiet,

but my tank is pretty much established has fish in it already.

Any advice?

Can you take a picture of the impeller?

Yes, PM me your address, that is the 50Hz impeller and the 60Hz one has only 2 rows of pins. For the time being you can cut off the outer row of pins to get running and we will mail you the right one by Priority Mail.

Thanks for catching that Shawn!
