What options do I have.
I have been looking into your plug and play retro kits for my Biocube 14.
My reasoning for looking into LED's is not to increase the amount of light in the tank, or the type of corals I can keep. I am completely happy with the look of the stock PC lighting, and with keeping softies and some LPS. However, heat is becoming an issue, and I hear that LED's will help with that dramatically. My question, is there a way to configure a retro kit to not be as strong of a lighting source? I realy don't want o have something that I need to dial back to keep from frying lower light corals. I would really like to keep the same look as what I have now, but I have to do something about the heat. |

Sure, you can just use fewer LEDs. The BC14 kit comes with 12 LEDs, if you feel that's too much then you can drop that down to 9 or 10 instead. Also, with the added 3rd fan with this kit the hood is usually fairly cool, and the LEDs aren't going to produce very much outward heat towards the tank so the water temperature should decrease significantly.

Is the BC14 kit a high output kit? I mean is it suitable for keeping SPS?
