I have no personal experience with this topic but I do recall coming across this when researching it myself. A common factor for many types of bacteria in a bottle when they began to hit the market was they seem to be sharing bacteria strains coming from the sewer/septic industry. I would definitely say Rid-x falls into this category. The issue being these bacteria are similar to that which is naturally occurring in the ocean yet not a truly accurate representation of their marine dwelling cousins given their natural environment.
I wish I remembered where I found this info before but a quick google only gave me a blog from Dr. Tim's. Of course him being a manufacturer even those claims need to be taken with a grain of salt.
