I had decided on the Blue Line already, but when NYA sent out that they had their BL's on sale I couldnt pass it up.
I ordered the 5-6" fish and to be honest the beautiful BL I received today is at least 6", probably closer to 7". He really looks great, I can't believe how fat he is. I do feel guilty though because he is in my 20L quarantine. The way he looks now I will not leave him in there for more than 1 more day. He arrived today and I was extremely thorough w/the acclimation. When I finally got him into the tank he never even went to hide (there are a cpl of large rocks), he swam around the tank maybe 3 times & then just came to the front of the tank to look out. It's amazing, he has no fear of me or my curious dog. I will get a pic on here of him as soon as I get him out of the qt. I'll watch him closely and if he continues to look and act as he has today, I will put him in the DT tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your input. My new BL looks as though he will have a great personality to go along with his good looks. I'm thinking that he is going to be my fav fish! |

Yeah, I put in a partial mysis cube and he ate it before it even had a chance to melt. He actually almost took it out of my fingers.
He seriously has no fear. He acts like a puppy! I dont know if this is the typical BL personality, but I've never had a fish that was so tame so fast. Anyway, I think he is great. |

Bad news on my BL
By the 3rd day in QT I noticed that his right eye was turning white and protruding pretty bad, I figured that he must had scratched it on a rock. Kept watching him for another day & it was getting worse plus I noticed what appeared to be a bruise around his right peck fin. I called NYA to ask them what I should do & was suggested to medicate w/antibiotic just to be on the safe side, so I did but it didnt help & also he wouldnt eat or even come out of the rocks. After being in the QT for a cpl weeks & no improvement I decided to put him into my 220 DT. He has been in there ever since and his eye and body have completely healed, but he still will not eat and when the lights he just hides all the time. I cant believe he's still alive. So, how long can he live without eating? Does anyone have any ideas to get him to eat? I feed alot of different foods and always use selcon and most of the time garlic soaked in the foods. PLS help, I really want to keep him, but he is really skinny now & I cant think of any other ideas to get him to eat. Thanks |

he has to be getting nutrition from some place. How does he look? is he emaciated at all? I would try getting some live food or adding garlic to whatever you are putting the tank. I've found that when I had a picky fish if added additional garlic to the food it always brought them around. I would be concerned about the 220 not being established enough since it is relatively new. As far as being shy....I have a pair of japanese swallow tail angles and they were very shy for the first two weeks in the tank and once they started eating regularly they came out all of the time.
good luck and keep us posted

He didnt make it. I am in the process of a large water change now and very though maintenance on the tank and will allow the tank to mature for quite awhile before a add another fish. Currently in the tank is a 3" perc, 4.5" naso, and a flame hawk.
I'm very frustrated with myself. I had just way too much good luck with my old 75gal so I guess that I had become too confident. Well this certainly knocks me down and I'll be afraid to add any new animals. At least my small reef cube is doing well. Everyone in that tank seems fat and happy. |
