Osmolator dead pump

I recently purchased a used Tunze Osmolator 3155 and finally got around to hooking it up tonight. Plug it in, move the sensor so that it reads a low water level and the light on the head unit comes on but the pump never does. After cruising these forums I did the 9v battery trick and the pump still doesn't come on. I'm guessing that the pump is dead. Can I take it apart at all to verify? Or is this just a case of buying a new pump?

Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

The pumps are cheap. I bought a spare for like 23.00 bucks.

Yeah, I'll probably end up doing that but I was just wondering if there was anything I could try before buying the pump.

The pump is a sealed unit and cannot be opened. The pumps generally last 2-3 years and then need to be replaced.

Ok, I'm guessing the pump is at least that old judging by the fact that I had to buy the magnetic mounts for the system as well, it only had the brackets. I guess buying used isn't always cheaper. haha
