Building ATI sunpower with Reefbrite LEDS --how many T5's for my 75g?
My 75g is 20" wide with a depth of 18". The corals are centered in the tank for a foot print of about 14". My plan is to hang an ATI SunPower fixture 8" above with 2 Reefbrite LEDS strips on each side.
Will the 4 bulb combo work, or should I go with the 6 bulb combo? (remeber there will be 2 LED strips as well and I think these count as t5 bulb each). thanks!

Keep in mind that 4T5's + 2LED bars = 6 bulbs. Are you guys sure that I should add two more T5's?
-Sorry, for second guessing, I just don't wanna get it wrong. Best to get it right the first time....mistakes in this hobby r pricey!

When you say each side, do you mean long ways or short ways?

I have a 6 bulb ATI and 1 reefbrite on a 65g sps tank and love it. Id say go with the 6bulb. Better bulb combos. The Reefbrites you can angle in so even if they are a bit wider then the tank it wont matter.

I am starting to lean toward the 6 bulb combo...just hoping it will not be too much light, or unnecessary heat.

How do you plan to mount the Reefbrites? I've been interested in this for a while but don't want the mount to not fit the look of my powermodule

Rumor has it the reefbrite screw right onto the lower beveled edge. It won't work on the powermdule since it is exctruded aluminum.
Still not sure about the 4 vs 6 question (Aquarium Specialty says to use 4).

Your absolutely right
![]() You can definitely get by with four but i would suggest six simply for more bulb combinations. |

I have the 4 bulb PM and plan on adding the same LEDs. Its over a 57gal same hight as your tank just a foot shorter. I get 400 par mid tank 200+ on the bottom without LEDs don't know what it would be with the LEDs but I would think 500-600 mid tank with a 6 bulb you would be looking at somewhere around 700-800 mid tank. That would. E overkill if you ask me but there are people with that much light and more.

My tank will only be 26x14x16 , do you guys think I can get away with only one reefbrite on front of 4 bulb ati? Or will it be drowned out by the t5s? Looking to get shimmer and that crisp blue.
Also do you guys have the all blue or white and blue bar?

I have the same setup for the most part as Rehype. I have to hide some chalices and Favia's from the light. They cannot handle it and the tissue lightens. I do keep the light about 10" off the rim so thats about 11" AWL. I have about 400 PAR at the tips of my SPS.
The color is amazing. I am concerned about the 8" AWL though, It may be a lot of light. Contact Joy at Reefbrite. She told me that they are coming out with brackets for the ATI lights due to the demand to use them or you could easily fab. them up. HTH Kc3

I like this pic. You can see the two different wavelength's of LED's used. I don't think mine have that even though Joy say's they do. I've tried to take pics of mine and they all look the same.

ATI needs to step up and do a combo of T5s/LEDs. That would be nice or someone needs to figure a retrofit that would integrate into the fixture itself including ballast.

I went with the 4 bulb set-up. Still waiting on the LED's to arrive...they are a mix of 50/50 blue/white.
Still need to decide what 4 T5 combo to use: Afraid it may be too white with a KZ NG or the ATI Coral Plus (cannot even tell if there is a difference with the 2 bulbs). Might go Blue plus x2, fiji purple, and a super actinic. It's really the Super Actinic I am unsure of.

I'm currently ordering 5x T5 bulbs for my custom T5/LED fixture. I'll have 4 bulbs flanking two 13up LED boards (Nano Box). The combo I just ordered was: 2x ATI Blue + 1x Giesemann Actinic + 1x KZ Fiji Purple 1x UVL Super Actinic I plan to play with the Blue + and Actinic + to see what looks better. |

I am thinking about trying to do this on my new frag tank build,
tank dims are 36"L x 20"W x 13"D, about 11" AWL. Do you think a 4 bulb Sunpower with one reefbrite would work just fine or am I looking at a crooked fixture? then, would 2 reefbrites be too much? At least 1 would be All blue, the second possibly 50/50? bulbs on a 4 bulb ATI would probably go something like this if I had reefbrite all blue supplements Blue + Coral + Purple + Blue + |

How was your experience with the colors of the corals once you aded the ReefBrites? Can you post a pic of the tank lit from the front??? Thanks in advance.. Quote:
