If this is the fish in Waikiki, isnt this the fish Richard Pyle captured a while back? Heres the thread that Copps started on the subject.

I was there in January and saw the abei thay was in that tank with a few other random fish(ones seen in the video) the peppermint is new and the tank has been reshaped/scaped sense then.

Actually it might be a larger tank. I've got to go look at my videos!

The boylei was collected by Richard Pyle and added to the display tank two days ago (a bit ahead of schedule) to make room in their cold water quarantine tank for another deepwater donation from the Kaiohi dive crew.

Both fish were captured by Richard Pyle, the Abei was the fish from film
Pacific Abyss. Great flick to watch Brian Greene/ Richard Pyle catch some awesome deepwater fishes.

Yuri you may have gotten your facts mixed up... Forrest collected the holotype specimen of the species... an amazing story... he caught the holotype while hunting for coelacanths in Sulawesi... funded by Dr. Yoshitaka Abe of Aquamarine Fukushima in Japan... thus the name given to the Centropyge... the person who first discovered the fish, Pat Colin, already had a Centropyge named after him.

Here's a shot of that that holotype fish... it happened to be sitting on Rich Pyle's desk on one of my trips to the Bishop Museum in Hawaii... Rich is holding the fish... John Earle in the center...

You may be thinking of the few that Brian Greene collected on the expedition with Rich Pyle... While Rich only caught one fish his was the only one to survive...

And for a blast from the past... here's some shots of what at the time was the most famous fish collected by Rufus... the first Genicanthus personatus collected in at least ten years (this was back in the fall of '07)

I happened to be driving the boat when this historic fish was collected... here's a shot of Rufus I took... in case you're wondering this is the grin that results just after catching a $5,000 wholesale price fish...

And one of the thousand photos I took with this fish...

Congrats again Rufus... and here's to many international dive expeditions!

Copps

Yes, we know, there's a cheaper and prettier fish than the one we’re talking about.

Current Tank Info: ~1000 gallons throughout the house (yes I'm nuts)
