Paint underside of tank stand?

Finally painting my custom built stand today. Should I paint the underside that will sit on the carpet?

Thanks.

Hi, on my custom stand made from 3/4 inch 13 ply cabinet grade plywood from Finland and then veneered with natural curly cherry with cherry solids had the whole inside done with 2 coats of enamel paint, but left the bottom that touches the carpet/floor unpainted. My construction is with glue and dowels, but if you used any screws or nails in your cabinet and they are on bottom you will want to paint it, that is because the slightest salt water will rust them. Found out the hard way when I moved an old 180 stand that had nails on bottom as part of its construction, it left some really bad rust stains on the carpet, which I had to clean as it was a rental apartment.

Taking the extra time now may save you headaches in the future.

Yes I would paint it for all the reasons mentioned above, painting will also make the wood resistant to moisture.
