large angel gurus chime in round 2
can you "pair" a grey belly regal angel with a yellow belly regal
currently have a grey belly (19 months or so) and would like to "pair up" with a yellow belly in the foreseeable future... tank will be/is 7 x 2 (200g) or 6x2(210g) or 175g bowfront.. have all 3 tanks set up and running will be redoing tanks to add in a 1200g-1500g common sump thats why the multiple tank size option tank mates will include..current tank mates(types) tangs triggers foxfaces wrasses damsels clownfish false personifer angel(current tank mate for 1 year now) puffer (large) not sure which tang, trigger, ect will be in which tank when tank redo is complete but will include all the above types as i said i have multiple tanks and some fish will be moved from tan A to tank B or to tank C to allow addition of a scribbled angel, yellow bellied regal angel and a black long nose tang or should i just put the yet to acquire yellow belly regal into a seperate tank from the grey belly the only thing set in stone in this thread is the addition of the common sump, and the acquisition of the scribbled angel, black tang and yellow bellied regal angel Last edited by agreeive?fish; 06/12/2012 at 01:21 PM. |

I would ask on the regal angel premir in the reef fish section.
I don't think people have a lot of experience pairing this fish.

You should be fine just make sure the new one is either alot smaller or bigger & I would use an acclimtion box until aggression stops.

it will have to be the lot smaller way because i dont see it happening for at least 6-9 months and i dont want to have to get a 6-8" adult angel.. i do like the accumulation box idea |

"pairs" of fish are something I have always aspired to ..... until a recent experience with a pair of coral beauties in a 150 gal tank ..... bought as a pair, they were in love in the dealers tank ..... honeymoon in my tank last 4-6 weeks or so during which time they were inseperable and looked fantastic. Then the male started becoming nasty (perhaps it was pressure a work, or maybe the booze
) and very quickly killed her.It became apparent that something needed to be done on a about a wednesday or thursday, so I resolved to (somehow) catch one of them on the saturday and take it to the LFS - but Friday morning, she was dead. To that end, whilst I know many people have sucess "pairing" angels, many such as me do not. Angels are not monogomous - they live in hareems, and so when put together under unnatural conditions the results can be, ermmm, unnatural.
