*Lots of Pix* Month Long Scuba Diving Trip Bali/Sipadan/Fiji/Great Barrier Reef

Just got back from a 4 week scuba diving trip to see south east Asia and the great barrier reef. Saw the absolute most amazing coral and sea life I've ever seen. I traveled with only a GoPro Hero2 so bare with me on some of the photos, I tried my best! haha.

In Sipidan, Malaysia we stayed on an old oil rig turned scuba diving resort. Pretty much the most awesome thing you could ever do as a scuba diver. All inclusive dives/food/stay on the oil rig resort and you can dive at your own leisure whenever you want, there's even an artificial reef under the rig. At the great barrier reef we stayed on a live-aboard ship for a week where we went further outside the actual barrier reef to where the more rare fish and coral are undisturbed. Definitely saw the largest school of barracuda ever like a giant tornado in the water, also did a few shark feeds that were totally amazing. Giant manta rays, giant turtles, pigmy seahorse, and sharks galore are just a few of the amazing things.

Enjoy!

Yep I bought the after market flat lens fix for it for better focus underwater and
did a post production red filter on all the photos with photoshop. Although after I got back from the trip I bought a red filter for it.

The reason why some is more blue than the other is obviously because the deeper you go the less colors and less lighting so everything tends to turn blue. The photos with more color are from more shallow dives on days where the water was more clear.

Yeah for sure...one of the photos (13th from the bottom) also shows a MASSIVE coral patch island that grew out of the water, it's insane!

Absolutely awesome! I was debating a GoPro for a dive camera. This might sway my decision!

Awesome thread thanks for sharing. I just got the new gopro. Nice to see it does such an amazing job underwater. I will be using it for car/motorcycle on land. But good to know it does such a great job underwater. Wish I could experience what you just did LOL. Barrier reef is def on my bucket list. Now if I only knew how to dive ha ha.

I went to Palau last year, it was amazing. I would like to see more pics under the oil rig, is it worth diving? I looked up that rig last year and considered it.

I have not been diving since 2010 and you are making me jealous. I have always been diving in the Caribbean (Bonaire, Aruba, Puerto Rico) but a trip to Fiji is in order!
