Will television ligth bother fish?
Odd question, I guess, but will the changing lights/shades/colors of a television bother fish? My 170g tank (under construction) is right next to my 42" television. I tend to stay up late and watch t.v. well past 'lights out'. Will this bother the fish? I want to make sure when I get this tank, done and start introducing fish, they will be as stress free as possible.
Thanks.

I'm new to saltwater, but my experience with freshwater would suggest that the fish will definitely notice the light and sound from the tv, but there shouldn't be any issue as long as they can still find some sort of darker place in the tank, like a cave or the far edge where it is darker. If it ever becomes a bother that you notice from them, you can always get a small towel and cover the edge of the tank at night.

My tank is 5 ft from the 55" tv. Been there for years. All the inhabitants disappear after lights out into there overnight hiding spots. I'm guessing its jut like a full moon. I've never had any ill effects.

My fish don't seem to be impacted by my TV at all. I have a big screen right next to the tank. Fish sleep etc... when lights are out regardless of TV.

It depends on the show. My fish get nervous when restaurant scenes with people eating fish are on; otherwise, the light from the TV doesn't bother them.

I am not familiar with the Photon.
Is it programmed wirelessly or manually. If you have AT&T U-verse in your house it can wreak havoc on your wireless programming.

My fish love SpongeBob Squarepants! They all crowd over to the side by the TV and demand popcorn with baby brine shrimp on top!

It will be fine... lights out and the fish disappear into your rockscape... be sure you have a rockscape to accommodate all the fish.

Just a guess but you will probably have better growth and less nuisance stuff if you watch FoxNews, the opposite will be true for MSNBC.

I have a TV about 20 feet across from my 180g reef tank. I did not notice any ill effect for the past ten years. My tank is never totally dark. I have an LED moonlight at night.

It would only be bad if you watch a lot of Horror. However, if you watch a lot of porn who knows what your tank inhabitants might do >

If it bothers mine they are in trouble.
Actually all the wrasse gather on that side of the tank when football is on. They cried when the Packers lost.
