That's Mount Whitney, nearly dead center, on the horizon.

See, now that ^ is what I wish my camera could do! I'm pretty certain it's lacking the sensor for it.

Bah. A tripod and a camera capable of a 30 second exposure and you can do it too. You just need to train your brain to see what your camera can see.

Love that fisheye effect Doug!

I went for the night sky shot too. Had one clear night this week.

From my back deck.

My shot is from a couple years ago but I'm hoping to get up to Santa Fe this afternoon.

Picture does it no Justice. One of the most amazing night skies I've ever seen. Well, unless you count an Alaskan Sky with the Aurora ripping, but that seemed like an image for another thread!

Included for inspiration only. Took this years ago but was looking through my library for "skies" and stumbled on it.

So, this is going to be a new animal with a completely new set of challenges! I took Doug's hint and paired it with a new UWA lens, and this is what came out:

LOTS of room for improvement. But at least I'm in the ballpark.

Doug that shot is awesome. Funny how people shy away from photography when there are clouds but man, they can make for some spectacular Sunset/Rises.

Very nice Doug. We're about half way there. Should be in full color in about a week or so.

Jay, pick a winner. You have some good ones to pick through this week!!!

Half way?? Jezze, we're past peak and what's left is getting ripped down by some crazy winds. Snowing up in the mountains and you can see that snowline moving lower and lower. Won't be long now before I'm dusting off the trusty snow shovel.

Man! I had some trouble deciding! Its cool to be among such talent I was tempted to select toothybugs night shot. Not because of its wow factor, but because of the effort and getting out there and trying something new. Great job! Dougs long exposure fisheye looks like something right out of Nat Geo!

I decided to go with ReeferKims beach sunset. Being raised on the beaches of Southern Ca. this one just did it for me! Great shot!

Congratulations Kimberley. If the next theme is 'animals' you can't post pics of Marley. You would have an unfair advantage
