Are Ricordea's very light sensitive?
Everyone,
I have had my Ricordeas for about a month now. I run 2 Kessil a360we on my 65g tank. They have been at the bottom of the tank, in a low flow area. The max I was running my Kessils were at 40% Intensity with like 30% color. One day I decided to bump up the intensity to 45% and color to 40%. The next day I noticed that only 1 of 3 Rics was shrunken, whereas my other Yumas and Rics were fully extended and appeared to be fine. I also noticed the Ric excreting some black zooanthalea from its center. Needless to say, I decided to go back down to my original settings and all appeared fine. Maybe I should have spot fed them good before I turned up the intensity.....but it's not like I craned them way up?? Any thoughts?? The only other thing I can think of it that I had 2 of the Rics (which were on frag plugs) touching each other, and moved them slightly apart since one was a bit knocked over from a Nessarius traveling by. Would that slight separation cause the Ric to get ticked off??

Them looking like that short term isn't abnormal, but they are definitely light sensitive and that can happen when they're stressed too. If they were Florida rics then them touching shouldn't be an issue.
