First boat load of Pukani ready to go offshore tomorrow!
Loaded my boat with the first 3000 pounds of Pukani that is going offshore tomorrow to hit the bottom of the Gulf on the aquaculture site.
Was very interesting unloading the shipping crates as the size selection is great....from very small rubble one to two inch sizes for nano tanks and fuges....to MONSTER twenty plus inches of amazing shaped Pukani for those with large tanks. Many pieces of extra large twenty plus inches pukani available now as I am emptying the crates and loading the boat. and the first three empty crates after loading about 3200 pounds of Pukani on the boat.... Now is the time if you have been looking for extra large pieces....and all other sizes also..... This Pukani is going to be the most amazing live rock available after I get done growing it on the aquaculture site! Richard TBS www.tbsaltwater.com

Yup...looks like a lot of rock...but this Pukani is so light a porous...I am amazed....the fish and inverts on the aquaculture site are going to love this rock......can't wait to see it after a few months on the bottom....going to be a thriving new reef for our Gulf critters.....

A bit sporty out on the Gulf today.
Woke up 5am as usual.....checked the weather....the bouy off tarpon was saying 1.6 fot seas...excellant....going to be a great day to deploy 3200 pounds of pukani on the aquaculture site....
On the ride to the dock, all the flags were hanging limp on the flag poles.... the little ponds were flat calm....was pumped....soon as I got two miles from the ramp...the flags were standing straight out....like plywood... Got to the ramp and the fishing guides and folks that hang there said "no way you are going out today with all that rock" But launched the boat....and headed out the channel...where it was 2 foot seas already...not good...got out between Honeymoon and 3 rooker bar...and they waves got huge...with white caps...HMMMMM not good.... But I was so heavy I could not turn around and run safely....so proceeded to idle on out to the site. When I got there was easy 3-5 foot seas with white caps...and an occasional six footer that put water over the bow. Got anchored over the site and got that rock over the side in record time... LOL the camera does not do justice to how bumpy it was...this is about two miles from the site on the way out.. Got most of it off....FAST Anybody need Pukani rubble for there reactors or fuges....got that covered.. Needless to say...will be a bit more careful checking the conditions before the next 3200 pounds goes out...the buoy report lied today.....LOL Richard TBS www.tbsaltwater.com

And back...that is the important part....just loaded another 3200 pounds on the boat just now...in 93 degree heat....sweating some pounds off....and I can use that!

It's looks fabulous. I'm planning a 150 gallon build --the Pukani would be great. How much is the rubble? Would it be okay in my sump for my 30G?

It is amazing looking rock, am try to get the second load of 3200 pounds out to the site now...but the weather has been ugly...small craft warnings again today... Pukani rubble is 1-2 inch pieces....perfect for fuges and pico tanks.....and is only $2 a pound.....! Richard TBS

Hey Richard,
You ever let folks tag along and help? I usually launch out of Ozona or Anclote, which sounds like you do too. "WILL WORK FOR PUKANI!!!" I'd just like to check out your site sometime. |
