Will it live?

So let me paint you a picture here....I picked up a nice green hairy mushroom last night, The employees at this store were.....not very knowlegable? Anyway, They bagged it up and it was growing off a old hermit shell and then started to grab onto a clam shell, was just a shell no living clam, and from how the mushroom looks now it almost appears they tried to tear it off the clam shell. I looked in the tank this morning as i got it added to the tank last night right at lights out and part of the mushroom is still attached to the clam shell and another part, the main part, is still attached to the hermit shell, But you can clearly see it is tearing. Now my question will it still survive if it does tear off completely, and would it be better if i just took a razor blade and cut where it is all tearing. Will try to get a picture later today or early tomorrow morning.

Yes, both sides will likely live. I ripped one completely in half by accident the one time (don't ask). It is now two healthy size hairy mushrooms and both have babies.

XD glad to see mine isn't the only one that is being torn in half haha. I think im going to just finish it off and cut it, will make placement a hell of a lot easier with out having to worry about keeping both sides close.
