Live Rock

I'm planning on redoing the scape in my sons 45 cube. How much, and what mix of cured live rock that you carry would you recommend? Also is that overnight or regular shipping. I'm in zip 08505. don't want to lose any life though. Thanks in advance

The nicest, most lively rock that we have is the Manado. This stuff has the full variety of life, from little critters to macro algae and several types of encrusting algae.
The total weight that you'd want will depend on what sort of stack you prefer. If you want a wall across the back of the tank, perhaps 2/3 the height of the cube, you'd probably want somewhere in the 30lb range, depending on shape. If you prefer an island stack central in the tank, you may only need 20lbs or so.
The Manado has great shapes, lots of holes and crevices, and excellent color. You could also use some of the Pukani that came in dry as base rock, it's chock full of holes and very shapely - however it's not colored at all, so I'd recommend covering it with a layer of the Manado to achieve a matured look in the stack. This is NOT dense base rock that was mined from the land - this is actual reef rock that was pulled and dried.
Pukani Premium Dry Rock:

As for shipping, that's a question I'll refer you to the shop for. The weather is perfect for shipping Live Rock right now, and the Manado came in covered in life even after a long transit, so you could be fine using Ground shipping - you're in the 2-day Ground zone from IND. If you wanted to be absolutely sure that nothing happened, you could use overnight shipping. The deciding factor may be cost, and I do not have direct access to the ordering system since I work remotely. I will PM you with a direct email to use so that you can get the prices for the shipping methods and make an informed decision based on that.

Awesome thank you. I will get in touch with them. Def don't want dry rock. It's a smaller tank so for once I'm going all live.

Very nice!

If it's only the bacterial cycle you're worried about with the dry rock, and not the critters or color, as of last week they filled an entire rock pool with the Pukani. If you aren't in a hurry, you could wait about week and have it fully cured... Just in case you want the option.
