Dive trip to Fiji

Here is my first video of our dive trip to Fiji earlier this year. This is just anemones and not all of the ones we saw. I have over 3hrs of video to sort through. I am very much a novice at editing but I hope you enjoy. Watch it in 720P, it takes a while to load but makes a big difference.

Great video! Those nems were beautiful. Do those damsels use the nems for a host? They seemed to be around almost every one.

Trying to plan a dive trip --ideally on an island where we can have a couple other activities too. Ideas?

If you are a hard core diver, a liveaboard would be the best experience. If you want some diving and an otherwise amazing vacation, try Laucala.

Thanks. I'm not sure if the nems host them in the same way they do a clown fish but they definitely associate with them.

We flew into Savusavu on Vanua Levu Island and stayed at the Koro Sun resort . Their dive op (Namena Divers) is one of the few that go to Namena Island Marine Reserve and the only op that has access to the island itself, which was the highlight of the trip for us (more video to come). Savusavu is close to the resort (15-20 min) and has a nice marina where a lot of the yacht crowd anchor, some restaurants and stores. There are so many islands and resorts to choose from. Diving Namena was a priority for me so that was the main reason for choosing the Koro Sun. The diving right in front of the resort was also excellent. This was our first trip to Fiji so I can't comment on any other resorts. I looked at a lot of youtube. Fiji is exactly what it's billed as, an exotic south pacific paradise!

I went to fiji two years ago and it was the best diving I've ever experienced. I dove on the Tui Tai. Dove 3 times a day, did some night dives. It was incredible. Want to go back as soon as I can

I definitely want to go back. My wife wouldn't go for a live aboard but I think I would bounce around to a couple of different islands next time. I would really like to stay on Namena a couple of days. We only had 1 day there but it was awesome.

Here is another video from Fiji. These are sites that the dive op did not want to take us to, but because of the wind it was our only option. After 3 days of being landlocked from wind we were ready to go. What they thought was sub-par diving was awesome to us. Hope the link works.

Fiji has some world class diving. Dove there years ago and loved it.

We would have stayed on Taveuni but none of the dive ops go to Namena from there and that was a priority for me.

Now we're getting to the good stuff. 2 of these sites are right in front of the Koro Sun resort where we stayed. The wind finally died down enough so we could get there. Namena is next!

I don't think the link for the second video worked so here is another link to try.

That's good to know...did not realize that. We were looking seriously at Taveuni, but will need to reconsider now. Namena is a must for me as well.

Amazing footage, BTW.

You could stay a night or 2 on Namena and the rest on Taveuni. The bure's on Namena are on the top of the island overlooking the reef and have an amazing view. They are not fancy and may not have AC (don't remember) but the diving, view and beach are awesome. Or a couple of nights at the Koro Sun and dive with Namena Divers located at the Koro Sun. They do a day trip to Namena with lunch on the Island and a kava ceremony in the afternoon before heading back to the resort, again awesome! No other op has access to the island, they have a dive shop on Namena also. I actually wish we had split our trip between a couple of different islands. Namena video is coming.

Thanks for the recommendation. We will likely stay on Vanua Levu, as the wife is not too keen on bures without A/C. Looks like a number of the dive ops out of Savusavu do trips to Namena Preserve. I don't need to have access to Namena Island as long as I can dive the Preserve.

I understand the no AC thing. I'm fond of it myself. You will love the diving.
