Sup fellas been on reef central for a while now so I think it's think to open a thread to ask some questions,I'm mostly on my local boards but not to much people know about macro's...seems like this is the right spot for me .. Little about myself ... I'm a human from San Diego ....... My main reef tank is a 120g 4x2x2 softies/Zoas dominant.lights are 2 ai hydra...I also have a 60g flat 4x2x1 plumb into my main tank/sump with all my macro's..lighting I have for macro tank is a 32in reefbreeder.. Mostly leave lights on about 14 hours a day 90percent white 15/20percemt Blues ..... I'm currently upgrading to a 150g 5x2x2 that's going to be all macro's, so I hope with this thread I'll give me a boost to finish my stand lol....... I'll post pics From my local thread to show the progress and algaes from when I first started with macro's...also have a 7gallon macro tank and a 4g nano macro tank.....
Sooooo first question is what should I keep my nitrates at and how can I boost it ?? I'm planning of doing all my rock work with PUKARI Rock .... I just picked up 6 bags of live sand and have 5 buckets of dead sand and some really nice Tonga branches (20in plus lol Last edited by cHRoNzZe 619; 09/10/2016 at 08:19 PM. |

My main set up 120g with a 60g macro as a natural filter....
Current FTS of my main tank ....... Been dosing calcium/mag/trace elements/and a bit of iodine and since then I have notice my few sps growing and my frogspawns (mostly purple tip and 5 wall hammers) Reason why some spots are empty fyi ...working on the rails to look better I hate those brackets my lights are on lol Current FTS Macro tank at its prime a couple months ago... What I can remember I had Red bush. Hayi red bush. Barbarta. Sargasum. Spinosum. Gracilaria (about 4/5 different types) Aussie red kelp. Indu red kelp. Caulerpa(about 5 different ones) olive balls alga (rare) Ulva brythonion. blue octo. hypnea pannosa. Thin red branch. Red grape. String of pearls Last edited by cHRoNzZe 619; 09/10/2016 at 09:20 PM. |

My 7g fluval ...place this by the window to see if the sun can make the algae's grow ... My dragons breath went HAM on growth with the sun light, and everything is living except the barbarta and spinosum ....I only turn on the lights at night so my holland lop's have a night light : ) current shot after I took out most of the dragons breath, has about 10 different macros at the moment
My 4g AIO nano... Only live rock, macro's,and a sponge for filtration in about 3/4 months only gave it a 1/2 gallon water change once for my display tank ...about 10 macro's in it |

Now time to load up some pics from the past. Gonna do a lot of copy and paste from my local club thread .... Also I'm currently fighting pink fuzzy algae and I swear I hate it so much I'm going crazy,I have about 15 turbos in my 60g and they have ate a lot of other macros including the pink fuzzy but I still have a ton of it,I manually remove it mostly when I do water changes.... Didn't have a chance to finish my list of what I had but I have lost about 15 of my algae due to this annoying algae

Tons of great pics! So many macros!
I'm a little confused as to what you have right now, with all the old pics included. Can you post a pic or two that clearly shows what you have right now? Gorgeous!

What I know I lost so far is.... Nemastoma, barbarta, blue octo. Hypnea pannosa, dragons tongue, most of my dragons breath, spinosum, sea lettuce.im sure I'm missing a few others, luckily I can get these back without looking to hard for them...except the nemastoma
Current top view... Looks a bit empty IMO,but after I'm done dealing with this algae I'll fill it back up |

Size of the grape is about a basketball size ... Any other recommendations on how to control this algae,I'm also gonna get a blue urchin tomorrow to see if it will help
