Help ID Thing Attached Zoa
On my zoa (had about 3 weeks) I noticed there were some wispy arms coming on the side. It has grown new polyps and they came in completely differntly so I have no idea what this is. Can you please help. (Picture attached)
1. Temp of tank: 80 2. All parameters including , Alk, PH, Mag etc and even Calcium in my opinion: alk: 11.2-12 PH: 7.8, Mag: 1440, Calc: 425. Nitrate: 8-12 Nitrite: 0 Ammonia: 0 3. Salinity: 1.026 4. Is it a frag, colony, new addition, wild caught or not, shipped or pick up? : Frag from WWC 3 or so weeks ago. 5. Have you made any changes just prior to or during the issue?: No changes to the tank 6. List the current/flow, even lighting when applicable.: bottom 1/3 of tank, indirect flow LED Lighting |

Might be aptasia. Color looks wrong but structure is looks correct.

Thanks vhuang168. I working to slowly lower the Alk with 5% water changes with a goal of 10-11.

I think alkalinity and nitrates are kind of high.
Try to bring the temp down to 79°F, if you can. Not a big deal though. I like alkalinity around 9. I keep my nitrates and phosphates both undetectable. Yep that's an Aiptasia. Remove frag from the tank and scrape it off sideways with a knife or razor ASAP... Make sure you wear gloves and be careful not to poke the zoa. Grandis.

Wear glasses, get a container with tank.water in it.... scrape it with a blade making sure no foot or. Pieces left behind rise it off with the tank water. After that I 2 I'll go to the extend of getting a paper towel and wiping the area of.the aiptasias old location to remove and excess or spores.

Aptasia for sure.
They pop up in my tank from time to time, sometimes on the plug like you have here. Just get a bottle of Aptasia X and you'll only need one small dose per head. That said, I'd hurry up if I were you because those things multiply like rabbits. |
