Looking to get back in the with a 300DD need suggestions

Been out of the hobby for some time now. At least five years so I am sure things have changed dramatically. Looking for some advice on what to go with as far as equipment. I am prob going to go with a marine land 300DD tank. And I have the luxury to be able to put it on the main level of the house and build a separate fish room in the basement. I will prob go with a 75 gal tank as my sump with a 40 gal remote deep sand bed and 40 gal fuge. Although I may rethink these ideas with input from everyone here.
So my questions are what is the best lighting to go with T5, halides, or LED?
What would be the best skimmer to go with?
Will a chiller be needed?
What return pump would be used?
Any advice would be great thanks!!!

Lighting really depends on what you want to keep in the tank.

Chiller really depends on where you live. I live in upstate ny and I don't use\need one (AC in the room during the summer)

It's debatable about the remote DSB....

Skimmers are a lot more efficient than they used to be - I am using a Reef Octopus Regal DC 300int and I love....

Return pumps - I hear great things about the Vectra L1..... Can be used int\ext.....

posted using alternating currents.....

Also you can't really go wrong with T5 just need the right bulb config. Some people do a T5\LED hybrid....

I have a 300DD.

I run 4x Ecotech Marine Vortec MP-40wes
I run 6x Ecotech Marine Radion G3
I run a Aquamaxx ConeS CO-6 Skimmer
I run a Sicce Synchra 5.0 Return Pump
I do not run a chiller as the house temp averages 65-72. If you run halides you will need one.
