How do you attach frags to live rock?

once removed from the disc they are grown on, do you just place them in a crevice in the rock and wait for them to attach or use some sort of underwater glue?

Just got a Caulastrea Furcata frag.

Be certain the glue is cyanoacrylate. Gel is better than the thinner version as it seems to "stick" better initially, and fills gaps rather than flow flat and into crevices. Cyanoacrylate is reef safe, and actually cures with water. Seems odd at first, but yes, basic Super Glue Gel.

Superglue alone never really worked for me. Just too difficult to get enough gel on contact points. Even when it held for a while it was too brittle and broke away. Also doesn't work on softies very well. I use a sandwich of glue gel, reef putty, glue gel. I mix the putty and shape accordingly. Put a spot of glue on top then press the coral through the glue into the putty. Shape the putty around the coral base and into the crevices etc. The glue does a good job holding until the putty sets. The putty gives long term holding I find. To place in the tank I put a spot of gel on the underside of the putty attached to the coral and press it into place in the tank. Again shaping the putty into crevices in the rock. Glue holds long enough for putty to cure hard. Works for me.

Been through too many glues and putties and ic is the only one we use now.
