Wearing out smashers?

I am weary of feeding my fully grown peacock too many manila clams as they take quite a beating to open. I am worried that he will wear his smashers to the flesh and since he molts so infrequently he may never get them back!

Should this be a concern with fully grown peacocks?

I wouldn't worry. Clams are relatively easy to break. Most cases that I seen of excessive wear come from hitting hard rock entrances to cavities or class.
