Brittle star legs still alive?

I found 4 legs from my brittle star in the sand a couple of weeks ago. They are still there and moving. I assumed it was just muscle memory but it had been a lonnnggg time. I don't suppose they will grow??

I think that some do, but most don't. If they are still moving after a couple of weeks, that's interesting. But I would also expect that they should be growing new body parts very soon. How long can a brittle star's leg live off the stores of nutrition that are in the leg without being able to eat? I don't know the answer.
