Fuge Light

Looking for a good clip-on light for my fuge grow some Chaeto algae. LED would be preferable...and not hard on the wallet. But also still effective.

Appreciate suggestions

I bought some cheap LED grow bulb from Amazon. It was like $10 for the bulb and $5 for the power cord to run it. Grows chaeto great

This seem like a good option? Has good reviews, granted it's not targeted towards us reefkeepers.

Then there's also something like this...

Get a clamp-on light from Home Depot with a 5500K CFL Screw in. You can get more fancy than this, but you don't need to.

There is a variety of reasons why going with a stronger LED grow bulb is a much better idea. The top reason (for me) is the pH benefit from having a stronger light that grows the chaeto better.

You're also not wasting a ton of light since a CFL contains a lot of yellow and green that is pointless for algae and plants in general.

With the said, thousands of people had success with lights like this over algae. I was one of them. There are just better ways now IMO. A decent LED grow bulb is $10 on sale on Amazon.

I picked up a couple of 9watt 6.5K LED bulbs off ebay and they work VERY well at growing my chaeto.
