Skimmer help

Looking to get a new skimmer for my 70 gal Cadlights system with 30 gallon sump. Skimmer section measures 11x7. What skimmer would you recommend?

I've been very happy with a bubble magus curve 5 on my 80G tank..
But I think its right at the 7" mark.. so I'm not sure how accurate your measurement is or not.. If its more than 7 it should work

Ditto on the BM Curve 5. Mine is placed diagonal in the center sump section and it works like a charm.

Based on your sig are you looking to switch from a Curve 5 to something else?

oh..Just saw that when you mentioned it..

No point in switching if you already have one..
Maybe they just updated their sig?

Why?
Knowing might help us make better suggestions?

But the curve 5 performs just as well as any skimmer so don't expect a new one to make any difference really..

It's underperforming just a bit with my stocking levels, and I'm hoping to find a skimmer small enough to fit that will allow for a automatic neck cleaner to fit as well.

The underperformance could be due to the height. I suggest trying to adjust the height up or down 1/2"-3/4" to see if the results get better. Also don't focus on the skimmate as a measure of performance. Use water clarity and test results.

What setting # are you on?

Another suggestion, carbon dosing. Add a carbon dosing regiment to see if performance improves. Simply going from say a Curve 5 to a Curve 7 (or comparable) isn't going to produce better results per se.
